I don't know but it's pissing me off. I've heard conflicting reports. Some say they were shut down by some agency, others said it was an extensive hardware renovation, or something went wrong with maintenace I dunno.....but I'm missing a lot of shit.

We received a letter from a lawyer represeting the CRIA, they were threatening with legal action and we need to start blocking Canadian traffic because of this.
Thanks for your understanding, and sorry for any inconvenience

Indeed, that really sucks.
I believe this is the first time in 10 years I have been happy to live in America for the time being.

Yeah I've been reading that the RIAA is out and about too. Isohunt and Torrentspy were both hit by subpoenas so they are not allowing any trackers that come from US based IPS.

Yeaaaah....is this the beginning of the end of mass P2P? Sure as hell has been seeming like it lately.

Won't proxies get around that ban? Or do Demonoid not allow proxies?

Honestly I agree.. I don't even keep the movies I burn to DVD. I usually watch them and chuck them or I give to my wife to give to her friend at work. I just realized that I very seldom watch a movie more than once so why drop $20 to buy the DVD?

Demonoid Sep. 26, 2007 update: Canadian users can no longer access Demonoid.com. Details are forthcoming, but their Canadian ISP shut them down by court order. The Canadian Recording Industry Association is behind this court order.
Torrentspy.com September 2007 update: Torrentspy has declared that it will be forbidding American users from doing searches on its website, under pressure from the MPAA.
Isohunt.com
September, 2007: Isohunt is barring American users from connecting to American torrent trackers. American users, however, can still use Isohunt to find torrents, and connect to third party trackers.
July, 2007: Isohunt has over 450,000 torrents in their database. Also noteworthy: any Isohunt torrent listed as "ISOhunt release" means that it is a file verified by the administrators...a nice feature to help you locate authentic torrents and not fake files. On a sad note: Isohunt is being sued by the Motion Picture Association of America (MPAA) for copyright infringement. If you want to use this tremendous Canadian site, you better use it while you can.

today,
The CRIA threatened the company renting the servers to us, and because of this it is not possible to keep the site online. Sorry for the inconvenience and thanks for your understanding.

Wild-Bytes and TorrentLeech both turned off invites. My guess is because of what happened with Demonoid.

I have another site I really like but I ALWAYS forget the damn name of the site when I'm trying to check it from work. I'll see if I have invites there when I remember or go home.
edit: Nevermind its Bitsoup and they aren't accepting invites either. Its just an open when they have spots type of thing.
Here is a list of Torrent Sites I guess you could try.. http://home.quicknet.nl/qn/prive/romeria/bittorrentsites1.htm

fuck this shit.
Also why is Demonoid being such a pussy, why don't they stand strong and fire back with lawsuits of their own like Pirate Bay has done.
steff
9th November 2007, 09:49 PM
Do you think PirateBay would be standing up to them if they couldn't get away with it? They do it because American and Canadian laws don't apply in Sweden(?).

fuck this shit.
Also why is Demonoid being such a pussy, why don't they stand strong and fire back with lawsuits of their own like Pirate Bay has done.many reasons to this, demonoid had 1 owner and 1 only, therfore if any legal action was to pursue he would be fucked, piratebay has many admins and owners, they make an estimated 60k per month just on advertising on there network, plus donations, they are hosted in sweden with multiple hosts, they also have backup hosts in hong kong and a few other places...
demonoid did not make no where near enough cash as piratebay and they know who owns it, and where he lives, i know for a fact that he wants to put it back up but the instent he puts it back up the pressure begins again for him...
