Is it unusual for a four year old child to have completed "Soul Caliber II"?
I am embarrassed to even bring it up, but I ask because he kicks my butt at the game.
Admittedly, I am not very good to begin with, so I have no real reference point to work from.
I believed he was gaining manual dexterity skills...which "seemed" like a good idea.
Now I just worry that I have created a monster...next generation gaming junkie.

I'm not looking to defend my actions, and yet here I am. I was merely curious to know if his ability to excel at this particular game was unusual. I didn't say I thought it was a great idea to let him play video games, and somehow it never occurred to me to check ratings on them...not sure I knew they had ratings to be honest. Gaming systems and such are really more dad's thing. My oldest daughter (21) may have introduced him to it. I don't really know.

I admit that it bothers me that there is any amount of violence in his world, but I have discovered that although it is not something that I am drawn to...he is. I assumed that this was the "boy" in him. I do not encourage games or toys that involve death, or extreme violence, and have a difficult time dealing with the fact that dad is okay with some of these things. (again...figures it's a "boy" thing and that dad would know better than myself)

However, thank you all for your input. I will take it under advisement. *sigh*

What's wrong with that? I doubt he's going to grow up to be a murderer because of a game. If he has the IQ of a spoon and useless parents then possibly but a game alone won't do much.

I didn't say he was going to be a murderer :dunno:

I just wouldn't expose my 4 year-old to a level of violence rated for teenagers, any more than I would take him to a rated "R" movie. Let kids be kids, and enjoy the more innocent things in life before they get bombarded with the violence and sex that is part of daily adult life.

But everyone has their own way of doing things  I'm not here to judge.

There is nothing wrong with letting them play videogames, some videogames have been proven to help kids whats the word, mental awareness for lack of the proper word, just limit the time they spend on them and your fine.

As for his gaming ability, keep that shit up, he might turn into something good when he is older, by the time he reaches those ages, professinal gaming may have become a bigger industry where there is more money to be made.
