there might be trojan or spywere in ur pc..

You can't always be sure that nothing has gotten through your AV - not as long as you have a PC that's connected to the internet... It's worth checking for spyware/malware - you may be unpleasantly surprised...

Man.. you guys are just lobbing shit out!! Nothing like a lil hand grenade tech support LOL
First questions.. do you have Mcafee Anti-Virus or Mcafee Firewall.. TWO different things here. You also say its 'freezing for everything'. lets get some description on this. Is the computer doing this on anything or is it internet related?

Thank you.
First - I have both Mcafee Antivirus and Mcafee Firewall.
Secondly - Its only freezing on downloads, the computer is in no way different then before.

What kind of download is it? direct, p2p? Does it happen on all downloads from different places or the same site?

Things to try
1. downloading with your firewall off
2. try a download manager, were you can resume.
3. run housecall from trendmicro to see if you have bugs
4. have a tech come out and swap modems
#4 happend to me a few months back, modem went to shit.

OK and when you say freeze are you saying the whole PC freezes up or that the download just stops and doesn't continue to download? I'm suspecting the firewall also but it could be some other things, such as the settings in the registry.

Well I'm more worried about the network settings themselves, especially if he had a dial-up before.
Alright lets start with this link: http://www.dslreports.com/drtcp
Its a software that will look at some settings on your network.
In fact try this link.. Its actually all done online:
http://www.dslreports.com/tweaks Look for the Java tweak tool down at the bottom. If the Firewall fubars it then it might tell us where the real problem is too.
