Hi all -
I am up for a HUGE promotion at work. Does anybody have great resume building skills? I would love some help. I can send you a copy of my resume, the job description and what they are looking for in the resume and cover letter. Any help anybody can provide would be a HUGE help as I want this promotion so badly I can taste it.
Thanks in advance for any help you can provide :)
Gretchen
PS This is serious, please no off discussion responses etc.....

Just focus on your achievements, put everything into perspective and note every little achievement you have done during your career, no matter how small... put a spin on it to make it seem bigger. Think, they NEED you! Not the other way round ;-)
Think about your biggest strengths and weaknesses and be prepared to dazzle them with your strengths, and be prepared to be asked about your weaknesses... and then try and put a positive spin on them - Something like 'My biggest weakness is my lack of experience, but it's what makes me all the more determined'.
Go to the interview and be yourself, look them right in the eye and sell yourself to them and maybe insert some humour in there.
This is the kind of advice I got when I was going for a job interview last week... I got the job... then another the very next day. I know it's hard not to be nervous, but what have you got to lose, eh? And make those first 5 minutes count ;-)
Good luck, Vix!

Sorry for the delay, I've been very busy. Main things I saw.
1. Change the font, use Arial or another standard font.
2. Use bullet or paragraph descriptions not both.
3. Put your contact info below your name on the top (not at the footer of every page)
4. If you can find information to trim out t reduce bulk, that would help.
5. Lose the borders. The page breaks are good, but the left and right borders should go.

Thanks all for the help. Took me 4 hours and a few fights with Ed to get it done but I think I have a kick ass resume and even better cover letter sent off to the big guys at the corporate offices in Atlanta. I go Tuesday and Wednesday and will be interviewed then......god wish me luck!

I run a dental clinic for under-served children. Basically here in MA medicaid covers dental care from birth until the age of 21. We have 8 clinics in MA and I am now up for district manager :)

So how did the interview go, Vix?

Well there were 2 parts, one with the SR VP of Operations. I just met the guy when I had to interview with him so I can't read that one. The other one was with my boss and my HR business partner. That one went VERY well. I have everybody telling me I deserve it and they are rooting for me, but in the end we'll see what happens. I have 2 other people in competition with. One I think is REAL competition and one not so much.....based on longevity I would get it and based on multi unit management she would get it.....based on turning around a failing clinic I would get it, based on a double bonus last month for 2 clinics she would get it....its such a crap shoot, it comes down to who they like best :(

I found this thread while playing WWII game before. I wonder if someone willing to help me with my resume too. Looking for a strong resume since I am working in a different job from my diploma. +_+ Right now I am an insurance agent, but i want to make it as a part time job. I'm really looking for a job in Information Technology since I have a diploma IT with me. Anyone?
