Actually I'm pretty sure it only helps once. It tracks your IP and only donates once per visitor. So in reality, we are spending a lot of time but only the first time actually benefits.

That and if Rit was really worried about it, he could just build a script into the login page that fires the hunger site in a seperate window, thereby exposing just as many people to it and not actually making us wait.

Then there's a little part about how pointless it is unless we actually click on the link.

All in all, good cause, bad feature. Sorry :(

The idea behind freebies is to get a bit of money from sponsors in order to keep this game running. To make this a bit clearer, we have running costs whilst offering a free game. You can play dopewars without getting charged for it, but we can't offer it without paying for the traffic/hosting. That's why we are trying to find a good balance. You don't see any banners or pop-ups at all - neither on the forum nor in dopewars. I believe it's a compromise that isn't all bad.
Further, it's not always the feed the hungry children page. Depending on the offers and the mood of our sponsors, you'll see something else.

Your pop-up suggestion is great, but it wouldn't work with premium accounts and I also consider pop-ups to be rather annoying or not effective at all (pop-up blockers). Players should have the choice to see ads - no one has to earn freebies. You might have noticed that we've cut the amount of freebies down to make them less powerful for that matter.

Yeah, I was familiar with the Hunger Site before DW but I was always under the impression (and it might say on the site) that it was only once per day for each of their sites.

Do you actually get money from the hunger site? If you do, I apologize. I know you got money from the ads but in V2 the only option is the Hunger Site and I thought that was just something you guys thought was a good cause (and you're not wrong). If you get money from it, it's cool with me because I already pay to play GC, I don't want to fork it out for DW too :P

Well, if I understand you correctly, you are pointing out that it's only effective if players play only one game - trying to feed the hungry children again with one's second, thrid account and so on won't make a difference. I'm currently trying to find details on that hunger page to answer your question.

As far as I know, we don't get money from the hunger site, but we have an option for sponsors to replace the hunger site with their ad. read more (http://play.treadon.us/index.php?c=freetokensponsor)

Yeah, i saw that before. Sorry, I didn't make the connection between the current status and potential income. :hidey: That also makes the Hunger Site thing irrelevant because all lof the impressions will help your numbers if you have a paying client. (Y)

I think that's interesting bdecause I work with online advertising. You guys don't want to buy a banner do you..... :)
