Motherboard/CPU? CPU is too hot so the motherboard kicks off because of a heat safety feature?

no it dosent just kick off it will stay running for weeks(linux has no need for reboots) and ill have to reboot to try a different distro(on life cds) and it will take 20 mins for it to come back on

Look at what he said seabiscuit, the Mobo power features might be forcing the pc to stay off till its cooled, the opperating system has nothing to do with it of thats the case!
Next time u reboot and it works, go into the bios, check what temp shutoff is set at, then download a program that monitors internal temps.. if u find after a while its running close to that temp, it might be the cause of ur startup issue!
Also while ur at it, check the fans are clear of buildup!

Did you do what he said and go into BIOS? I would actually disable the emergency turn off feature. Just to see if that is the cause.
