february of my first season, thought i would give it ago with liverpool until i get the hang of things, sitting in first with a point lead over EVERTON! :|, out of europe (1-1 at anfield and then 7-6 to inter in milan) out of fa cup and out of carling cup.

Brought in

Sergio Ramos - £15.75m
Aaron Hunt - £7m
Franco Baresi - £1m compensation (youth coach)

And a shit load of scouts, a new assistant Joop Hiele i think and a few coaches

Sold

Yossi Benayoun - £10m
Jermaine Pennant - £8m
Harry Kewell - £7

Top Goalscorer

Andriy Voronin 34 in 39 games :|

steff
13th December 2007, 06:42 PM
You got £7mil for Kewell?! You're a fucking legend lol. My mate was offering him for free and nobody would buy him pmsl

I'm bored of FM and here's why:

1) International management is retardedly easy and club management of semi-big to big clubs is rather easy too
2) Spanish registration bug
3) Mini match bugs (closing down, build up play, missing sitters etc...)
4) Unrealistic transfers (£45mil for Rooney? £52mil for Silva? Behave ffs!)

My last game I decided to test international management as it had been "revamped". The only thing I noticed that's major is how easy it is lol. I'm British, and only England have a hope in hell of doing remotely well in the cups so I went them. Won the European Championships, was winning 2 nil in the Confederations Cup Final after 24mins against Argentina, they came back with 2 then scored a 30 yard screamer in the 93rd minute. Then won the World Cup... far - too - easy.

I started unemployed at club level in that said game and the first club to pick me up was Hibernian. I took them to 7th place in the first season (I should have been 4th but there was a bug that left me out of the championship group) and that was with taking over them in 10th place. The season after I came 3rd with most assists and most goals. I destroyed the regular clubs and gave the big clubs a run for their money when I played them. My players let their egos get in the way though and started to want to leave so I did what any good manager would do: jump ship to Zaragoza. :) First season they were 17th when I took over but there was like 12 points between that and 4th place and I eventually got us to 4th place. I drew a horror group in Europe the season after... but I never got that far. The Spanish registration bug hit and unregistered all my players so I would be getting fucked 15 nil every match. I waited for the patch to come out to see if it fixed it and it didn't. So I did what any good manager would do... add manager at Rangers then retire and apply for it (hey, Zaragoza are bigger than Rangers anyway :P). Celtic spend £50mil a season and I get like £2mil to spend. Anyway, I never even finished the season, just too bored because of the minor-bugs. I'll go back to it eventually.

My Current Career :)

Update.

Won the title with a game spare after chelsea blew it away at Arsenal, who un characteristically finished 9th.

Watched Steve McClaren take England to the semi finals of the European Championships only to be beaten on penalties by France, with yes you guessed it, Wayne Rooney missing the fucking penalty.

The FA being a ruthless bunch sacked McClaren and decided to offer the job to me....i turned it down and they appointed Rafa Benitez, currently in the first week in October having lost against Roma and Bordeux in the Champions League and beating Everton at Goodison Park 2-1.

Players Brought In:

Robin Van Persie - £13m
Joaquin - £17m
Raul Albiol - £6.75m
Vagner Love - £6.75m

Players Out:

Aaron Hunt - Arsenal - £11m

Red Cards: Team - 3 (De Rossi, Fabregas and Karim Benzema)
Best Average Rating: Sergio Aguero - 7.48

Team Competitions:

Still in: Champions League - 1st Round Knockout vs. Lazio
Prem - 1st
FA Cup - 5th Round vs. Chelsea (Got the worst draw ever this season, 3rd Round vs Man Utd at Home, 4th Round vs. Tottenham Away, 5th vs. Chelsea at Home. Although if i beat Chelsea it's an easy run to the final, with Liverpool already knocked out by Portsmouth.)

Knocked Out of: League Cup 4th Round vs. Chelsea. (Game finished 2-2 and they won 4-2 on Penalties.)

Got a piss easy Champions League group this time. I played off against Sparta Prague in the 3rd Round of Qualifying and beat them 3-0 on aggregate. Then drew CSKA Moscow, Benfica and Levski Sofia. Ended up first on 16 points (5 wins, 1 draw) with CSKA Moscow finishing 2nd on 10.

Liverpool got knocked out in the 3rd Qualifying phase by Toulouse 2-1 on aggregate.

Further Update.

Stopped the rot and have now won 4 on the trot, with Fernando Torres replacing Andriy Voronin as leading goalscorer with 20 in 17, all competitions.

Looking forward to a successful November and to closing the gap on Chelsea who lie in 1st5 points above me, but i have 2 games in hand :D

Current Lineup:

Formation 442

Pepe Reina - GK
Felipe - DL
Daniel Agger - DC
Raul Albiol - DC
Sergio Ramos - DR

Ryan Babel - ML
Javier Mascherano - MC
Wesley Schneider - MC
Joaquin - MR

Fernando Torres - ST
Robin Van Persie - ST

Substitutes:

Scott Carson - GK
Steven Taylor - DC
Steven Gerrard - MC
Vagner Love - FW
Andriy Voronin - ST

No before you say why is Gerrard on the bench theres a perfectly good reason as to why him and Jamie Carragher are not in the starting lineup,

Gerrard has just come back from a torn hamstring and isnt fully fit, the reserves is doing fuck all to help him so iam giving him 20-30 mins per game to rebuild his fitness.

Carragher on the other hand is STILL injured and remains so until the start of December with a broken fucking metatarsal so fortunately the two centre halfs i bought in the close season were well advised. :D

Update for me as well.

Won the league with 2 games to go, with Chelski coming 2nd, Man Utd 3rd and Tottenham 4th.

Got to the FA Cup final and lost 1-0 to Aston Villa.

Got to the Champions Cup Final and beat Inter Milan 4-0. (Even better as i couldn't use Aguero as i'd bought him after he'd played a Euro Cup game for Atletico..)

Lost the last 2 games of the season, 1-0 Man utd and 2-1 Birmingham. We played well considering the average age of my starting line-up was about 18. I just played my youth team. My 17 year old Keeper got Man of the Match.

November Update.

Ok so November didnt go as planned,

Drawing 2-2 with Arsenal at anfield, beating Roma away 1-0, being beaten by Villa 1-0 away then demolishing Wigan 5-2 at the JJB after suffering a humiliating 0-0 Draw to Hull in the Prem.

Next up is Chelsea at Anfield and a must win game against Grondins de Bordeux in the Champions League with Bordeux on 12 points, myself and Roma on 9 with Roma being 2nd on Goal Difference, meaning that if Roma beat Wolfsburg in the final game, i have to score 2 more goals then they do just to qualify for the second round, which is where i got knocked out last season by Inter Milan after an epic 7-6 loss in the San Siro.

Champions League Group:

Edit:

Beat Bordeux 3-0 away and with Roma getting beat by Wolfsburg, i qualified 1st in the group and have drawn Dynamo Kiev in the second round :)

Well what a season, went to the European Cup Semi Finals but got beat by an impressive Barcelona side after drawing 0-0 at Anfield, everything was looking up after 25 minutes with Fernando Torres and Andriy Voronin putting us firmly in the driving seat until the start of the second half when a revitalised Barcelona came out all guns blazing scoring 3 in 10 minutes with Henry, Ronaldinho and Lionel Messi all bagging a goal.

Still we didnt roll over and die but the final nail was hammered into our European campaign on 82 minutes when Anders Iniesta fired home a penalty sending us crashing out of europe.

Bought David Silva from Valencia in the January window for £32.25m.

Won my second league title on the final day with a 3 possible teams potentially being crowned champions, Liverpool, Manchester United and Arsenal but with an interesting final day, Utd got beat 5-2 away at Chelsea who by this time where already out of the race meaning avoiding defeat at West Ham would send the Premiership crown back to Anfield.

Signed Michael Owen on a free transfer and Giovanni Dos Santos from Barcelona, again on a free, before splashing out £18.75 for Getafe's Italian goalkeeper Oscar Ustari.

7 games into my 3rd season, iam currently in 1st place having beaten Man Utd 4-1 on penalties in the Community Shield and then 4-2 in the league with Michael Owen grabbing a brace.

My only defeat so far coming at the hands of Arsenal who beat me 1-0 at Anfield.

Current Squad:

Pepe Reina or Oscar Ustari - Goalkeeper
Felipe - LB
Jamie Carragher - CB
Daniel Agger - CB
Sergio Ramos - RB

David Silva - LM
Wesley Sneijder - AM
Robin Van Persie or Steven Gerrard - AM
Joaquin - RM

Michael Owen - ST
Fernando Torres - ST

If anyone else doesn't want to play in Fullscreen and doesn't want to change the Screen Resolution, i've got this trick off someone else.

Find your FM Shortcut, then right click on it.

Go to properties - shortcut - and in target change to

"C:\Program Files\Sports Interactive\Football Manager 2008\fm.exe" -small_screen -windowed

Open the game and make sure the Fullscreen option in Preferences is Unticked.

Started a game as accrington stanley, the usual, sold a few bought in a few changed thier tactics and sur[risingly got promoted, second year of the game, sold my best players from the year before (apart from two "wonderkids") at huge profit, bought new players and got promoted again (both times thanks to playoffs) just finished the third year, sold and bought players again but egos got too big and during the january windows a few key players minimum release clauses got bought out (set at 3x what i paid for them) on being the captain, morale hit an all time low and went from 2nd place in the championship to 16th at end of season..

the only real bummer is im in the championship with a 7000 seater stadium and most of the clubs there have 20k+ so i get considered as a small club still :(

steff
4th January 2008, 12:23 PM
You are a small club though. It's like Gretna who went from lower Scottish leagues to Premier League in consecutive seasons - they're still a small club though.

Asshole
4th January 2008, 12:38 PM
why?? im a mid table ish championship club with the best training and youth training facilities in the league also quite well off due to other clubs being so desperate for the players ive picked iv trebled thier worth, the only "Small" thing about the club is the stadium, luckily its now down for 6 months while they add 3 and a half thousand more seats, taking me i believe to just over 11,000.. just a few more years and ill have biggest stadium too.. take that you bastards!!!

and in all fairness the Big clubs are the ones with more supporters i guess, so having a 7000 seater will really hamper that

Isnt it embarrassing that im doing a ground share with oldham athletic, and even after all the expansion they will still have a larger stadium.... oh and they are a whole league below me :(

steff
4th January 2008, 01:46 PM

For anyone starting a new game. 2 players to buy bothw onderkids..

Alex, hes a brazillian.. AMRLC 17 when you start the game you can pick him up well cheap.. 3 years in i paid 24 mil...

ANd willie gibson.. DM/MC English so no permit, also a wonderkid, gets more expensive as the seasons roll by

im 3 years in was bottom of the championship with accrington, bought these two mid season and missed out on playoffs by 1 point along with the help of a player ive had for a hwile who seems to be another

another good one:

Matej Rapnik. DLC had chelsea liverpool and arsenal trying to buy him for the last two years.. been a bastard to keep hold of.

If you're a Championship/not-so-good Premiership team, John Fleck of Rangers is a good buy and in some games (you're aware that PA changes for under 16's from load to load right?) he can have 179 PA so could be a star.

4th Season with liverpool sitting in 3rd on 15 points joint 1st with West Ham and Chelsea.

Sold Joaquin as he was becoming a lazy bastard and bought Sergio Aguero for £33m and Daniel Alves for £20, had the stadium rebuilt to a 61,000 all seater and my average gate is 60546 which is bloody good, making around £2.6m in receipts per game.

Michael Owen is out for 4 months with a torn hamstring :@ and Fernando Torres is out for 2 months with a broken metatarsal which means my front line consists of Aguero and van Persie.

Line Up

GK:Carson
LB: Criscito
CB: Agger/Albiol
CB: Carragher/Ramos
RB: Alves/Ramos

LM: David Silva/Babel/Van Persie
AM: Wesley Sneijder/Iago

The "update" contains more bugs than it fixes IMO :P that and the fact that there is no official nocd crack released for it yet means it isn't really an option. There is supposed to be an update in February and odds on someone will make a noCD patch for that then since it'll most likely be the final patch.
