ok 2 problems again. i swear it wants to be smashed.
1st.
when i put the new system32 file back on the pc i now get a warning every time i turn it on. it comes up asking about a Microsft Kernel GS Synthersiser(might be something different) and wants to find a file. it asks me to insert the XP disc. i do and it cant find it. after that the sound then comes on. i cant find a driver for it :S i havent installed no synthersizer and it annoys me.
2nd.
when i start the pc up now(only started a few days ago) i have to press F12 so as to choose teh bootup HDD between the 2 i have. if i dont it comes up asking for the NTLDR (or whatever it is) and tells me to press Ctrl+Alt+Delete. how teh fuck can i change it back so i can boot it up without having to make sure i choose the right HDD to boot off :S

that might sort his first issue to be honist, its probably what i would do, but it sounds like he has multible drives with multible xp instalations, so hes gotta set a default drive if both are xp pro

oh...then assuming that...what drive is set to be checked first in bios, is the master slave settings on the 2 drives correct, if using slave system, are they connected in right order!

cause i have the drives set up with a SATA to IDE convertor at the back of both drives it wont work as a master slave set up. i have my main drive set as master 2 and the extra hdd as master 3. although for some reason now it still shows as that although when booting it goes the other way.
and before you say it yes i have tried putting my second HDD as a slave and no it didnt show up on teh pc at all :S

the mobo is a Gigabyte GA-945GCMX-S2
(IDE) Main HDD is a ST380021A (found in BIOS and start up)
(IDE) Second HDD is a Maxtor 4D060H3 (found in BIOS and start up)
Both HDD is connected to teh mobo by the SATA IDE adaptor. soo they are both plugged into the mobo by sata

another thing im confused about...u got sata drives...but using a ide converter...why? the mb allows for:
SATAII0
SATAII1
SATAII2
SATAII3
aka 4 ports and in addition u got the ide ports.
sata drives should go on sata ports, otherwise u loose all the benifits, the cords cost little relative to the gains!
anyway settings i assume should be:
On-Chip Primary PCI IDE [Enabled]
On-Chip SATA Mode <<< not sure yet..whats the current setting?>
edit need to know ur bios version too!

my HDD are both IDE. hence the convertor. needed it so that i could use them on SATA which game me all teh benifits.
it is set to: Auto
and BIOS version is (no fucking clue lol.) i havent updated it from when i got it if that helps lol

lol..ok for starters 2 ide hard drives will get no real benifit working through the sata connections... yes i know its supposed to help some, but really i don't!
Use a regular ide cord and do it through the standard ide port, it will remove all these issues.
as for version, u should see it in the post screen
u usually see something like this:
Award Modular BIOS v6.00PG, An Energy Star Ally
Copyright (C) 1984-2007, Award Software, Inc.
Intel I945 BIOS for 945GCMX-S2 F5a<<< the f5 there is the version..f1 would be the first version and so on.
the AHCI option i asked for comes on later versions of the bios! As far as i can see, you are fine as long as u have version F2 or above!
as for ur sound issue, apparently some people suffer it, they end up having to install alternative drivers, wil check it out later for u!
edit: if u do ever update the bios ( and the sound issue might even be related btw) dont go above F5 for now

i have sound now. all i had to do was download a file for teh system32 folder.
the problem now is the thing that pops up looking for a driver/program thingy.
i only have 1 IDE port on the mobo hence why i needed the sata adaptors so that i could have more then the 1 HDD.
the BIOS version is F4

1 IDE port on the mobo hence why i needed the sata adaptors so that i could have more then the 1 HDD
1 IDE port is standard on moden mobos...but one port has 2 channels, You make one master and one slave or use the cable select setting

oh jusus....u know what, i blame the cuntbag that bought the motherboard...yes i said its now becoming standard for there to be only one IDE channel but thats because in a few years IDE will be phased out...however u can still bloody buy em with the extra IDE ports!
OK anyway rant over, yeh dymonds way is the only way for now, u confused me when u said u has a SATA to IDE conversion setup...u got IDE to SATA, beleve it or not, it makes a different in thinking!
Ur choices are keep as the way u got, or at least buy 1 new hard drive thats SATA and do the windows install on that!, use the converter for ur other drives and enjoy the extra space!

There are a couple of options if you didn't fix this yet, have you received an errors like code 10 or code 39
if you go to the device through device manager does it say this device is working properly or does it give a code
Smash Bros

it said that it was all working properly.
but i have since fixed the HDD. now the only problem i have left is that if i have a cd in there already it will register as that cd(and i mean any) until i restart and wont auto play anyother cds. is a cunt when i wasnt to play some games as it said that the disk isnt in cause it was registering as another cd.
anyone know how to fix this one??

First go http://www.trendsecure.com/portal/en-US/tools/security_tools/hijackthis
Download HJT
Make an uninstall list with HijackThis and i will be able to see if there is an installed program that could be the cause.
1. Start HijackThis
2. Click on the Config button
3. Click on the Misc Tools button
4. Click on the Open Uninstall Manager button.
5. Click on the Save list... button and specify where you would like to save this file. When you press Save button a notepad will open with the contents of that file. Simply copy and paste the contents of that notepad here in a reply.
