I don't know why it would be safe to use propane. Liquid petroleum would almost be a gas anyways so I'm sure they would both work just fine.

the grill was probably designed for natural gas. to convert to propane all you do is change the orifice(?) in the burner. it is a little fitting at the end of the gas line with a hole in it to regulate flow of gas. it is the size of the hole(s) that determine what gas to burn. i believe any apliance can be converted. an orifice can't cost more than a couple bucks.

ok propane is not the same as lpg cause propane has a thicker mixture and yes it can be converted easly if u no how ok because it is thicker u need to get a inlet gas nozzel (orifice)with bigger holes all round i belive there is 3 and a thought other things but ur best bet is to take it to a specalist thell be able to do it in 10 mins but odd thomas has the right idea
the first nozzle will be the connecter that connets to the propane cylinder the second in a filter (witch is hard to get to if it has a fitter there not uslly need for lpg but are for propane) and the last one in the burner

propane is a type or a subset of lpg.
ie it is a LPG, but so is butane. some cylinders are mixtures of propane and butane, they are also LPG.
LPG is just the name given to the gas fractions of petroleum once they have been pressurised into liquids.
They could include methane, ethane, propane and butane. In practice they tend to mainly be the last 2 or mixtures of them.
