hmm...What a brillant idea:roll: as if we dont already have a problem with guns getting into kids hands. Now they have to go and make them with cartoon characters on them to make them even more attractive to kids.

The MOST that should be allowed for any weaponry would be alterations to the pistol grip..and NOTHING that makes it look like anything but what it is...Like..insignia or something like that
but nothing like disney characters fer fuck sake..thats just taking it too far

I say it's no different than painting your car. Cars kill far more people every year.

Yeah but they're not made with the intentions of being a weapon.

Obesity probably kills far more people then cars every year, what exactly is your point?

No, it doesn't. My point is this:
Gun owners need to be responsible. Do people really think giving this NATIONAL MEDIA attention is the best idea? They are the ones responsible for exposing any children that may have seen the guns on the tube. Now the video can be seen by any kids roaming freely on the net, millions.
It's your property, so why not mod it how you want it. If a owner of a gun wants to have a gun painted in a certain way, they should be able to do so. On the other hand, they need to be prepared for any reprecussions that may arise.
Here are some world wide vehicle stats.

Here's the top 15 causes of death from 1999. I couldn't find a recent one, so obviously the numbers have changed.

The below says the CDC estimates about 300,000 deaths in the US a year from obesity

But they make guns an even bigger threat.
There are enough cases of kids (and adults) brining toy guns that look like real guns to school and what not and that causing havoc - now real guns can be made to look like the toy guns (that look like toys).
The worry held by the police is just that, now how can they be sure that whats being pointed at them is a toy? If the officer hesitates he's done, if he fires he may have shot an innocent bearing a toy.
~
It makes guns more concealable, something they should never be. A gun is a tool designed with the purpose to kill something (maybe not someone, but something at the very least). A car is a tool designed for transportation - it's not a good comparison.
It's better to say, well people design bombs to look like laptops so if people can mod out their plastic explosives then they should be able to mod out their guns.
~
From a business stand point a good marketing idea - of course until a law gets passed against it (which is inevitable, once a toy gun is used in a robbery and a few people die) - but from a public viewpoint I am a tad on the horrified side.

If somone is dumb enough, kid or adult, to point a gun (real or not) at a police officers, they should be ready to die. Cars are a fine comparison to the situation, both have certain intended purposes but could be used for other purposes. The bottom line is always going to be responsible ownership.

And the next bottom line is that there are always irresponsible users. Why should you give them the ability to be more irresponsible?
~
The intended purpose of guns is to kill.
~
Having guns look like toys is just yet another way to conceal them, which is a problem. The ability to conceal potentially lethal things is bad (I know that anything is lethal, but guns are very efficient).

Well technically irresponsible users shouldn't have been issued them to become a problem.
But that is obviously a serious flaw or need of legal revisions for the USA for gun ownership.

Laws don't stop people that want to kill people from getting guns to do so.
Nor will they ever.

Laws don't stop anyone from killing anyone gun or not.
I can assure you there is hundreds of ways to kill someone more painfully and suffering without a gun lol.

most people who are killers, or who are useing a gun for intimidation purposes will be wanting the guns they use to look real, and scary. and if a kid plays witha a gun no matter if it looks normal or like snow white the results will be the same. anyway thats just one mans opinion, i am not an expert.
