There are several bit torrent clients available for downloading stuff through bit torrent. ABC bit torrent client is just one of them. Check below for details on other Bit torrent clients available.

1) Official BitTorrent client (http://bitconjurer.org/BitTorrent/)
The offical BitTorrent client is available from this page.. While it's stable and easy to use, many of the most-requested features have to be set in command-line options and changing them requires restarting the torrent. For this reason, it's not recommended.

2) BitTornado (http://www.bittornado.com/) / Shad0w's Experimental Client
Shad0w's BitTorrent client is available from this page. It is easy to use, fast, frequently updated, and has lots of useful features. This is the best client for most people.

3) Burst (http://krypt.dyndns.org:81/torrent/index.phtml)
Burst is available from this page. It varies in quite a few ways from the official client, and is ideal for having multiple torrents open at the same time. It's based on code from a number of different sources, and is updated fairly often. Many of the features are targeted at experienced BitTorrent users, but it's still fairly easy to use.

4) Azureus (http://azureus.sourceforge.net/) (RECOMMENDED CLIENT)
Azureus is available from this page. Azureus is currently my favorite client, and is a good choice for both new and experienced users. The interface is useful, and everything is explained simply, so it's a good choice for newbies. It also has a huge number of features and configuration options that would be welcomed by more experienced users.

5) ABC (http://pingpong-abc.sourceforge.net/)
ABC is available from this page.ABC (Yet Another BitTorrent Client) is similar to Burst in that it is based on Shad0w's client and has a separate GUI that works well with multiple torrents. Choose whichever interface you prefer, the performance will be about the same.

6) BitComet (http://www.bitcomet.com/) (HIGHLY RECOMMENDED)
This uses Low resources and text based stats, which means you can keep the client open for long enough until your download completes without having any crash. It has inbuilt chat system, as well as many other features. We recommend you to use this client as default one. Lock your upload speed at 80% of your overall speed in settings to see good download rate. Doesn't mean you shouldn't be seeding it after download has completed.

7) Tomato Torrent (http://sarwat.net/bittorrent/) (MAC OS X users only)

8) TorrentStorm (http://www.torrentstorm.com/)

9) Shareaza (http://www.shareaza.com/) (includes other network compatibility)

10) BT++ (http://btplusplus.sourceforge.net/)

11) G3 Client (http://g3torrent.sourceforge.net/)

I can only comment on 2 clients. Azureus and µTorrent (http://www.utorrent.com/). Death Row recommends Azureus, I'd recommend µTorrent 10x more than Azureus since it requires not alot of memory and the like. it soudns similar to BitComet actually. It's definitely worth a look since it's very simple to use too.

Edit: Stickied

I've never had any luck at all downloading torrents. Ever.
What (if any) are the advantages of torrents over p2p filesharing through, say, Limewire, or DC++?

Limewire.. sometimes.. you can get fake files and easy to get virus and if its illegal the ISP provider can easly trace what you have shared over limewire and DC++ and plus in DC++ u have to actually share lot of things... to get in to an hub ( rooms )

but torrent... you download the thing you want.. and no need to share until you downloaded or seed back.. its eaiser and these days torrent check the file code before they get uploaded so less fake files and corrupted files..

"Personally any video i download via torrent, audio = P2P, quickest way"

Me too.

My computer only holds 40GB of data but I keep every torrent I download until I need to free some space (which has been never!). I sometimes even leave my pc on all night when I'm not even downloading torrents and that's not even for a private tracker.

Torrents are faster.. much faster.. but torrents eventually die.

For instance u wanna download a movie a week after its released in the cinema.. everyone will be wanting to download this.. your P2P program will be blocked up with users and it will be harder to get it, the torrent however will have 1000's of people downloading the file.. and if those people have parts you dont, they send them to you, unlike most p2ps where you dont upload a file till its completed the download.. thus making torrents faster, because most of the time those 1000 with incomplete files will be able to give you a complete file, it dosent rely 100% on people who already have the 100% file,

but in the same way people will generally A: delete thier torrent as soon as it is downloaded or B: wait till they get a share value of 100% then delete it, (i do it around 50% share value) this is why torrents die out but you will still be able to download it on P2P sites...

Personally any video i download via torrent, audio = P2P, quickest way

Quoted the truth...

i download.. Music Videos..Movies..and Albums in Torrents

in P2P just single tracks and so on....

Agreeing with steff on this, I've used azureus and utorrent, had no problems with azureus when I was running it, but after switching to utorrent, I couldn't go back, has practicaly all the same features, but its a hell of a lot less of a drain on system speed. also whilst downloading with azureus through demonoid I found tha half the time my ratio was never updated, which wouldn't have been that bad had I not been doing a shed load of seeding at the time.

i ahev never had a problem with that dont forget they only update the ratio once a day

Well I am making the switch from Az to Utorrent. It was a tough break because Azureus has been my BT Client of choice for a few years. But one of my favorite sites banned Az because it also seems to be the hit and run users BT client of choice.
