I suffer from constant or chronic anxiety now that I am abstinent from all drugs apart from cigarettes and alcohol. (I was dependant on marijuana for sleep and to feel "normal" for the past 5 years of my life.)
Have you stopped using drugs?
Do you get anxious and depressed? Any panic attacks or something of the like? I'm asking because the onset of my own anxiety (not depression thank god) is very recent and I'm finding it hard to deal with. My mind feels uncomfortable and I seem to worry about the out of proportion consequences of an unknown happening that may or may not occur.

I've seen the doctors but they all say its normal to feel this way, but I feel that I can't explain to them whats happening in my head properly...

Has anyone else ever had this problem? How did YOU deal with it?

My anxiety disorder isn't the result of drug use, but I generally just avoid certain situations. It's not really dealing with the situation in the long term, but I haven't had a panic attack since last year.

Mmmm. The shitty thing for me is, I can't avoid my bed or trying to sleep. :(

If it's just sleeping, go to wal-mart and get equate gel-caps. Weed quit helping me sleep years ago, i was using various sleep aids, presciption and otc, these ones put you to sleep and you dont feel retarded in the morning. cheap as hell, too.

I always get really vivid dreams if I don't smoke weed for awhile. I suggest a really good workout before you go to bed, make yourself so knackered that you just pass out as soon as you hit the sack.

Man I had that happen to me 7 years ago I just had shoulder surgery and I was laid off of my job.. Every time I would just about fall asleep.. BAM.. panic attack. I think I went 3 days with no sleep. I finally had to get into the doctor to get some xanax.. man I think I slept 20 hours after I took one of those. Once I got back on my sleep cycle I didn't get them for a awhile.
