It's that time of year...
I want to highly recommend Adams flea/tick shampoo, and also Adams flea and tick spray.
I used to buy it from my Vet, but now walmart sells it as well. Both are approx 10 bux each...but well worth it! The shampoo lathers up really well and smells good, and also conditions your dog's skin and coat. Kills/prevents fleas great!
Then after bathing your dog, spray a fine mist of Adams spray on his coat and rub it in... it' prevents fleas from jumping on him when he's out in the yard too.
Muttley hasn't had any fleas this year so far, (knock on wood), and his coat looks really healthy from using Adams products!

After you shampoo your fleas, do you rinse and condition them too?

we spend a fortune on that dam Revolution........use to spend a fortune on frontline. Having a hard time getting my wife to not spend our hard earned cash on this shit.......How often do you have to bathe and spray them? Do you spray a few times between baths. I sure would like to save some money.

We've never given our dogs baths ... Ever. And they don't get fleas either.
Dogs don't need baths but I guess the flea/tick stuff would be dependent on where you live.

Plant wormwood and/or lavender around your dog's run/yard. Both deter fleas and lice. Feed fido some garlic (most dogs love it) with his food each week. Fleas won't like the smell of him, and it helps with worms too.

Garlic in too large amounts though can harm a dog, due to it containing thiosulphate, which is poisonous for them.

It's true, dogs dont' necessarily NEED a bath...but I've always found my dogs feel very refreshed after a bath. And if you use the proper shampoo, such as adams, it conditions their skin and coat as well.
If your dog doesn't like baths, then there's always dry shampoos, I spose ppl can use them to make their dogs smell nice or something, but to me that's not good enough. I think most dogs appreciate a full bath in water.
Chronic, I'd say if you already have a flea problem...bath your dog once a week and spray him once a week just until you get rid of them.
But in general, we bath our dog about once a month, just to refresh him.
yes dogs lick themselves clean...however they can't reach their backs and ears etc... so it's up to us to help them clean those areas. you should also swab out their ears and brush their teeths as well...cuz dogs can get cavities and gum disease too.

I guess if dogs get dirty by rolling in mud or whatnot then they would need a bath if there was no backyard. Ours just stay outside until they're dry, then we brush the dirt off them
They smell sweet and have the softest fur :) No dandruff either. Pets with poor skin/coat/teeth have poor nutrition most of the time unless it's a medical condition.

Lowin I feel that all animals need baths just like us humans. It is great for their coat and it keeps them smelling good.

My pets smell great without baths, and I know many pet owners who agree with me. Just my two cents :)
