i think its about time to start implementing much stricter punishments for people cheating because its starting to get ridiculous with the recent influx of new players it seems to me that admin either cant keep up or dont try anymore i also play other games and they have much better policing actually going as far as to check referrals and check for proxie ips, it seems the only thing around here is waiting for the obvious multi accounts on same ip and black market cheating to get reported when the scans are done do you guys check for proxies? do you even have any way of catching AZ without player reports short of manuely logging in to suspect accounts im not sure how it would be done but all this cheating has gotten to be taken care of as alot of good players are losing thier spirits to continue playing a game where people are alowd to cheat thier ass off

Great post, its about time something was done with this shit!

Before Dopewars was introduced to Facebook, it was a bit dead here, but its better that way then people blatantly cheating.

Yes Facebook has brought alot of people to Dopewars and most of them i really really like and get on with. But geez, somethings gotta be done.

I vote YESSS!

Agree. For those of us who don't cheat, it's a slap in the face that these people get deleted at the end of the round and then join up next time to do it better.

How can you bust cheaters and ban them when there are a shitload of people who play on anonymous proxies that change daily. Jacx already said also that 1/2 the emails are fake, which I thought was an offense worth getting an acct disabled. Making the medal rooms one room was suppose to bring better competition but really has made the game into big clusterfuck. With the proxy deal, you can switch to another proxy in 2 seconds and login to another acct. You could make 40 accts and they wouldn't even know if it was one person or not. If this keeps up, I predict alot of people quitting the game.

That is a large run-on sentence. Seriously though, the proxy thing is a little harder to deal with than you'd imagine. Let's say we block out all proxies. Then we'd effectively cut off everyone playing at a college, work environment, or even aol users. Don't forget any babysitting, as this would effectively be stopped. All of this to stop the minority that would just use other work-arounds anyway. So really, the proxy/ip is one of the last things used in the multi-scan. I only tell you this because it's pretty much common knowledge to the veterans anyway.

As far as the rest of the stuff that we can/can't do, all I can say is that we're aware of the frustrations (that's why we have more game staff) and we're working to fix the limitations we have.

Comedy AIW Style Response: We don't bother with things like this because we have better shit to do. Usually it's along the lines of sitting on the couch getting drunk and laughing at whatever we find funny on lolcats.

i have been playing dopewars for quite a few years and the cheating is still
here. it is hard to catch the cheaters i agree and i do know admin does work
hard to stop it. but in this day and age they will always find a way to get
around what admin does to stop them. does it hurt and bother us decent honest players? yes it does and it's frustrating. what can we do to stop it i dont know but we need to try and find a way.

i know it will never be fully stopped but curbed would be nice. Also, watching known cheaters keep on cheating time after time and never getting banned is what i cant stand. The punishment should be a straight ip ban for 90 days first offense, 180 second offense and lifetime ban for the third. All im seeing is getting thier account disabled, so they just make a new one and keep cheating hoping they will slip through.

and i could give a shit about grammar honestly at least my spelling is decent :P

I think what first needs to be done is a better description of what is considered cheating, what the punishments are and the admins would have to enforce.

#1. 2 accounts by some random person and the person clearly isnt doing any good why would you ban him? just delete one account and let the other one know why

#2. Repeat offenders some kind of punishment besides from DQ's deletion may need to be implemented

#3. If it is not disrupting game play for others does the person really need a ban?

#4. Disrupting game play, deletion upon noticing and DQ if end of round. A warning of not repeating. and if caught again some kind of ban, not long but something.

and so on the rules are not clearly defined and in fact there are a lot of players that dont know the AZ strat is illegal but luckily they dont run it. Not everyone reads every post in the OT forum let alone even visit the forum.

EDIT: than again wtf do the admins care... its all about the money :P

the games in a bit of a shit state in medal rooms

multis or proxies or whatever you want to call them this is the result on a typical gunning account in b1 with 3 days to go(cant comment on a worth account)

73jumps on me in b1 - typically 5 vestings(suicidings) a day everyday from day 1

233junkies lost by me in 73 jumps(vesters take on average 3 junkies per jump)

28.5million in pure gun worth lost by me to suiciding vesters (maybe multi proxies maybe not)

45million in pure vest worth lost by the suiciding vesters

multiply that by 20 as this happens to every gunner in our b1 pure gun cartel every round

result 20 bored gunners = :bye:

you could always run worth again?? come on uz, get together again!

it doesnt solve the problem though of course, i have to say im a bit out of the loop running worth in medal rooms i tend not to know too much whats going on with the gunners (unless theyre jumping me!!) - it sounds a bit crap, its surprising so many people have enough time on their hands to make proxies/multis and its certainly not in the spirit of the game, shame on you

Come on Jen, you've played in Dharma, you know what it's like! Sure, we keep plugging along, but it does tend to drop the morale.

I hope you enjoy your game in AOY this round, anyway, you shouldn't get hit near so hard.

thats the issue though swissy, are there really that many people prepared to dedicate their sole account in the room to vest gunners?

if thats the case then it sucks but its hard to argue that its an issue for admin to deal with.

however, if as some of us suspect its rather less players somehow using multiple accounts it totally distorting the game, especially if its repeatedly to the benefit of one cartel

EDIT - would it help if players got a automated email when they made an account and they had to respond to that to activate the account?

I tried it once along time ago in b1....my own cart of 20......strats varied a little but was looking good. Day 3 came along and i was so bored handling 20 accts, plus the other rooms i was in, plus having a life, it just wasnt worth it.

Seems there are alot of bored, no life persons out there that have nothing better to do in life.

Yeah and it's really messed up when someone who is not cheating gets banned. Hell if I was cheating I wouldn't be towards the bottom of the score list now would I. God this system sucks.
