ok so i have a sky box for tv (for you americans Sky is satelite television) and the problem is it keeps on Freezing in the middle of programmes and and when i turn it off and then on again it still does't go on sometimes.

i have also tried turning it off and turning it on again while holding down the "back-up" button on the front of the box - thus updating the software.
also, its not to do with the satelite because the sky+ box (upstairs) works perfectly.

however the problem persists...any ideas on how to remedy this problem?

Personally I would request a new box - and return that one as defective

This may sound stupid but one thing to try

If you have a cordless telephone base anywhere near the box - move it to the other side of the room - the signal can interfere - check for other things as well that could be causing interference with this unit but not the other box'

Nope its just fucked, and so is Liam, for letting Warranty run out on it, now its gonna cost you more than what the warranty would have. HEHE

how is it outta warranty? (sry i got direct tv and the equip is owned by me but always covered as long as i got their service)

if its out of warranty, still call the company and be like "wtf, this is the problem is there anything that can be done"

if its a matter of extending service, just do it... they might upgrade your units, cuz if their outta warranty they are probably pretty old??? (i may be wrong)

Or why dont you just ask to extend warranty then next day ring up and say, look its broke, give me a new 1 biatch.

Trap, ova here companies can be cunts like that. Some companies are so bad they have recently updated freeview boxes, but some of the old boxes cannot run on the new software so they have told people they will not be offereing them new boxes, or refunds but offering advice on the cheapest solution.

Cheap bastards.

Is this just a regular satellite receiver or does it have a built in DVR?

Is there any competitors in the area? Usually if there is availability to switch to another service, the cheap asses will give u what u need to stay with them.

Ring them, tell them your box died so you're going to cancel your subscription. That's how I got my free Sky HD box - Don't ask for it though!
