Well - I prefer Avira Antivir (links to both programs in step 2 here -> http://forum.oddthought.com/tutorial-section/12283-guide-removing-malware.html )
But if you wish to keep avast - this issue will be fixed in their next update
Here is a workaround until that point
To install it, please follow these steps:
1. disable the avast self-protection module (right click avast tray icon, select Program Settings, go to the Troubleshooting page and check the disable self defense box)
2. download the fixed driver:
32-bit Windows: http://public.avast.com/~vlk/aswsp-ext2fsd-fix/i386/aswSP.sys
64-bit Windows: http://public.avast.com/~vlk/aswsp-ext2fsd-fix/x64/aswSP.sys
and place it to the \windows\system32\drivers folder (overwrite existing)
3. re-enable avast self defense (disabled in step 1)
4. reboot the system.

Why cant Antivirus companies keep up with the program? seems like we have to change antivirus programs every 6 months to keep up with the times. bullshit if you ask me, I remember when Norton was the shit, but seems corporate bureaucracies take a toll on such companies and make them unreliable to the savvy consumer. Probably is/will be the nature of the beast forever.
