Windows XP service pack 3 issues

Hi there, ok so since yesterday when presumably my computer was trying to download it, i've been having issues with trying to install windows service pack 3 update on my computer, it will start to install and then it will say access denied then another error message saying windows service pack 3 could not be installed, please click ok to undo the changes that were done.

Any idea as to why my computer wouldn't be allowing me to install it? I have windows xp home edition. Thanks in advance for any help. :)

I actually got tired of the update VIA the web so I downloaded the exe and installed it that way.
