My worry with wireless tutorials is its really based on your router..Plus with wireless cards installing their setup disables the Windows Wireless Wizard..this one may be tough to keep generic enough for everyone to understand!

well mostly was venting but even more than that i was ummm....a bit tipsy. but i was having trouble getting my virus programs loaded onto this computer ( i actually have 2 running computers now!) it kept saying files were corrupt. i was told my registry keys were wrong/bad or whatever and need to reinstall windows. But my brother says he has a program to repair registry keys :dunno:....dont expect me to know much more than that. I click the button and hopefully it does what i need. if i really need to do advanced stuff i right click the mouse :D

he also says he has a copy of windows pro? that i can have, cuase i always have to call someone else when i need the magic disc. what is the difference between my windows xp and pro?

Question 1: Repairing the registry is iffy. Somtimes it works, sometimes your computer becomes a large overpriced paperweight. Honestly with the problems you've described Kim I would reinstall Windows and give your OS a fresh lease on life. As part of the reinstall I would give your hard drive some long formatting loving too.

Questions 2: I'm asumming you have XP Home Kim. The main difference that I know of is in networking. XP Pro allows your computer to join a Windows Domain network. XP Home only allows peer to peer networking. The other one which in all honesty is just a freaking registry setting somewhere is the ability to change networking on the fly. Windows Home always wants you to reboot after making a change where Windows XP Pro will allow the change w/o rebooting.
