hey again, it always seems to be me asking for help in here so i may aswell keep going

I have an extremely slow download speed (3-7kB/s)

I have run virus scans and came up with nothing

I have turned the firewall off and still the same

I am using "Vuze" to download

Im running XP with a DSL connection

Well, I guess the first thing to do would be to see if it's your connection, or the program, my guess is a setting in the program

Check Speedtest.net - The Global Broadband Speed Test (http://www.speedtest.net/)

It will show and up and down speed like this

we can start another thread for everyone to post their speed test results LOL. That was intended for crazy to test the connection speed, for troubleshooting his problem. I was thinking about it, and you may need to open a port on your router

ok CJ... ive had this problem with vuze bfore when it was called azareus or some shit...

A. vuze sucks, again i recomend utorrent

B. fast downloads with any torrent utility is all about forwarding the ports and with vuze you need to set it up for UDP and TCP not just TCP...

heres a page all about port forwarding and if you havent looked at the Vuze FAQ i included it as well... wish ya the best

PortForward.com - Free Help Setting up Your Router or Firewall (http://www.portforward.com/routers.htm)

Vuze FAQ / How do I setup Port Forwarding on my router? (http://faq.vuze.com/?View=entry&EntryID=96)

Port Forwarding is definitely needed if your going to do Torrents. I don't think NAT translation was meant to handle the speed at which stuff comes down on a torrent.

Ok, well i have used the port forwarding site multiple times to try and correct my problem but i still have the "NAT" problem

apart from this i also dont know what else to try...

you can try to maximise your connection man, MTU transmissions and all that... other than that CJ i dont know what els to say... here is a site that has a few tools you can use to do this... do the tweak test then setup the app according to its results...

Tweaking for speed - dslreports.com (http://www.dslreports.com/tweaks)
DrTCP windows tcp tuning and tweaking - dslreports.com (http://www.dslreports.com/drtcp)

something is wierd with Vuze, i had the same problem with it, slow download speeds and that NAT error even after changing my ports. i tried a lot of different solutions but none of them worked.

finally i said to hell with it and switched to utorrent and bitlord, maybe this with vuze you need to set it up for UDP and TCP not just TCP... is the reason it never worked? this was back when i first started using torrent programs and i had no clue about ports and shiz, so maybe i just messed it up

I suggest doing what Doobz suggested and switch your torrent program, both utorrent and bitlord come with default port settings that have never given me issues, so maybe that will help ya out alot

i agre, half of solving your problem would be to get a new torrent application... i wouldnt suggest using the default port setting though as many ISP's block the lower ports from P2P activity... use a port higher than 10,000

I am not using the default port, and i have opened both UDP and TCP. plus the port im using in withing the suggested range...

i have seen people downloading at 1MB/s with Vuze, so i know its not the client, anyway ill just keep trying and see how i go...

thankz for the input :D
