Recently when I've been using Limewire and uTorrent I've been getting really pish speeds. uTorrent is understandable, but why Limewire? I'llget at the most 25kb/s between all my downloads when I used to get up to 200kb/s. :P It's not even as if I'm downloading something that hasn't got alot of people to download from... so how do I fix it?
My guess as to why it's fucking up would be an update I've installed from Microsoft? But I'm no computer expert so you lot work it out.
Would it be a good idea to change my TCP connection to about 100 using this (http://lvllord.de/download.php?url=en/EvID4226Patch223d-en.zip) program since running XP SP2 only allows 10 TCP connections (meaning I can connect to less people)?
Would I have better success with uTorrent if I got a different firewall? I currently use Windows Firewall. I don't want to use ZoneAlarm, had a bad experience with it.

2.3mb/s - yous aren't understanding. I USUALLY get speeds over 200kb/s but ever since I installed windows updates it has went down to like a 30kb/s cap.

I think Mikey is on to something! I've heard alot of ISPs are throttling down certain ports they know are being used for Torrents and file sharing. Tell me a little bit more about how you are connected..What hardware etc..

The TCP connection limit, is only limiting you on how many people you can attempt to connect to at any one time....It does not limit how many people you can have a connection with.....that's not your problem.
Look at the sources are they dial up..................
I have SP2 installed and speed is great as long
as the feeds are not dial-up
try maxing your connection with utorrent
also why have 100 connections doing shit when you can have 10 or 20 good ones.
try tcpoptimser google it.

DR there is hundereds of updates for SP2, I've installed them all. I vaguely recall me installing one of them before and my computer doing this, I just can't figure out which update it was.
I use Limewire Pro Rico and to be honest, I don't see any difference between the 2 of them. :P

Steff try this out as you may have already.. still ;)
Remove limit on the TCP/IP connection attempts........Win XP SP2
This patch removes the limit on the number of TCP/IP connection attempts. Windows XP service pack 2 had a limit of 10 connection attempts which severely affected download speeds on P2P programs like Kazaa, Bit torrents, etc. This patch now increases the limit from 10 to 50 thereby allowing the users to download at increased speeds on Torrents and P2P sharing programs!

One more thing here!
Go to this site
http://mywebpages.comcast.net/SupportCD/OptimizeXP.html
Under 'Step 8-Internet', download the "SP2 TCP-IP slow down fix" and follow the steps in that article! The increase in speed on the torrents is enormous! Those with XP and SP2 should definitely do this!

Steff since you said your Utorrent is working fine.. if there is any problem again i think it maybe due to Your ISP might be blocking your downloads. Try changing the ports both Limewire and uTorrent use.
and another alternative ways can be
try encryption while using utorrent
this is only if you get this problem again :)
