View Full Version : Do away with 29 day rounds

every day is a school day...... my lesson for today is that running a junkie strat in a 29 day round in A games is completely pointless (that or there is no point to a junkie strat at all anymore - see other thread).
In a 29 day round machines are the only really viable strategy, which makes the game completely boring and one dimensional. I believe that the machine output should be adjusted accordingly in 29 day rounds to offset this (or permanently is fine by me too) so that there is more than one viable strategy left to play in the game.
can admin and other poeple who have actually done the math on this comment please?

It is true that machines are the better option for short games in A for the individual. However a full junkie cartel will yeild better results.

Due to Halloween and New Years Eve, we can't get rid of them all together.
So the next question is mathematically can a junkie player generate enough cash under normal game circumstances to keep up with a machinist player. The answer is *typically* yes. Typically because if you were to assume that you had the worst luck in the world with the junkie payout randomizer, you would not generate enough cash to keep up. Likewise if you were really lucky, you'd generate more cash and surpass them easily.
Now I've never seen the exact junkie strategy your cartel uses, but I can tell you that typically strategies used in 31-day games need to be readjusted for 30-day games. This makes sense as you have fewer tokens and you need to maximize efficiency. The same would go for 29-days, and I'd be interested to see if anyone has taken the time to maximize the token efficiency on those games anymore because they happen so infrequently.
If not, this would be a huge advantage for the machinist, as inefficiencies on their part are harder to pull off and won't damage them as much if they do foul up.

Justin just covered this, our biggest market is the USA market, hence we do the Halloween deal (and parts of Europe do it too) and New Years is a given for everyone.
Its just one of those things that happens twice a year.

the best junkie score i could muster was 95mill, i missed a few tokens and wasnt in a full cartel but i wouldnt have got much higher. rick posted he got 99 running machines for the first time..... sounds a bit one sided to me.

I made a spreadsheet calc, but it doesnt take acct in freebies but is relative.
29 day without freebies = 3530 tokens
