I have heard rumors that you can connect a xbox 360 via a existing router instead of buying the 100 microsoft wireless connector. Does anyone know how to accomplish this????? I have a linksys wireless g.

yea you can use your router to broadcast the signal, but from what I have seen you would still need a wireless network adapter on the xbox to receive that signal.
I have a PS3 (which has it built in) so I can't say for sure.

You can bridge the connection from your Laptop/Tower to the 360 but then the PC will have to be on the whole time. That's the only option other than the Microsoft Network Adapter.

hello chronic
I asked this question and others just before Christmas on the thread linked above.
I bought a wireless network adaptor and thanks to the advice on that thread, it really was quite easy to set up. I had a little panic about it on the day but I believe I was trying to make it harder than it actually ended up being.
Also, someone else who I pestered gave me this link:
Windows XP: Connect an Xbox or Xbox 360 to your network (http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/using/networking/setup/xbox.mspx)
I hope this helps.
carol :)

I think this is what wraith has already said, but if you have a laptop that you can connect via a cable to your xbox then (assuming that if you have a desktop pc that it isn't close enough to your xbox) then it looks as if you can do it that way without a dongle/network adaptor.
I googled (only quickly as you can use google too ;) lol) and came up with this ... i'm really not techie at all so i'm sorry if these links or suggestions are complete rubbish :$ lol
Go wireless with your XBox 360, without the $100 MS adapter (http://www.ofzenandcomputing.com/zanswers/61)
Xbox Network Connection Sharing (http://www.jakeludington.com/xbox/20061208_xbox_network_connection_sharing.html)
good luck, carol :)
EDIT: I've just realised this method still isn't wirelessly, but i'm not sure if wirelessly or cheaply without a network adaptor is more important to you ... i'll be quiet now :$ lol

I'm pretty sure you need the dongle thing otherwise your xbox has no wifi 'receiver'
I'm no techy either so if its not plug-n-play its beyond me

I got your dongle thing seasider :P
So what is happening is your using your PC as the wireless bridge, then funneling the feed to the XBOX through a crossover ethernet cable. My advice.. Buy the wireless adapter for the Xbox. :)
