Its true , 2010, taken from the daily telepgraph today:
"Fast forward to America's Independence day, 2010. Fireworks light up the sky, The Star Spangled Banner blares around the field and a game of rugby league breaks out. And not just any game, but the first US Grand final featuring players who are household names in the NRL.
This isn't a pipedream, its going to happen, with a US professinal rugby league competition to be announced within weeks. After almost 40 years of trying, rugby league is about to kick off in the land of Opportunity.
Will spare you the rest of the article, but here is how the yanks are gonna structure their competition:
*Eight teams, each with a 22-man roster
*Competition to be played over 14 weeks, with 7 home, 7 away matches
*Kickoff March 12 with Final played on Independence Day, July 4.
*NRL Players who are nearing retirement will be targetted to join competition on salaries around $130,000
*Second tier Coaches will also be in demand
The Clubs: Philadelphia, New York, Los Angeles, Denver, Jacksonville and Boston already up and running with two more to be announced.
Personally im fucking excited as for this, anyone else? :bleh:
