People loved her or hated her, in seemingly equal measures. Some got so upset by her meteoric rise to e-notoriety that they resorted to cyber-terrorism to shut her down.
That's right, cyber-terrorism in response to a kid posting a couple of youtube videos for her friends. The internet is serious business.

In response to the poll question, she's cute for her age, and you can always watch her videos with the sound off (if you're watching them repeatedly with the sound on, then your sanity is DEFINITELY in question), just don't hold your breath waiting for her to post a new one.

That's a very good analogy.
Astley had about as much control over the Rickrolling phenomenon as Boxxy did with the use of her pictures being spammed on the chans.
Like all flashes in the pan, the whole Boxxy thing would have died down soon enough by itself. Ironically, 4chan itself is the motherlode for people with short attention spans. Even the active threads get pruned shortly after their creation.
This didn't stop the self-appointed meme police from trying to wreck a harmless (despite being epically annoying, she wasn't actually hurting anyone) young girl's life.
