so, 3 days late, i know......

but the tour de france started at the weekend (we have had an individual time trial, a couple of stages and today was the team time trial).

lance armstrong is back and missed the yellow jersey today by less than a second, the judges had to go back to the individual time trial result to split the difference between armstrong and cancellara (sp) - "swiss timing" he joked..... something i obviously approve of :haha:

the team trial was amazing - those boys averaged over 50kmh, thats pretty amazing...... best of all was the garmin team who cycled pretty much the whole course with only 5 riders (you need 5 to stop the clock incidentally), 2 brits amongst them who are now both in the top 10 (Y) and with cavendish leading the points green jersey things are looking up for the brits.

i suppose the question to be asked is..... can armstrong eek out another win? the race is never won/lost in these early stages on the flat but in the mountains when one amazing/bad day can win/lose things for you and so long as armstrong is in touch (which he obviously is right now) i dont think you can rule him out.

next question is, how many doping offences will be discovered throughout/after the tour??...... its so sad that the sport is marred by this.

so i finish with one of my favourite phrases: drugs are bad kids, mmmkay.

I think that Lance will squeek out the win in the end. Lance has historically been strong in the climbs and as long as his team hangs in there, he could pull it off. It does make it interesting with him being in there, but it is weird to not see him in his USPS jersey.

some things are worth taking time over!

strange end to the race today, i thought armstrong might have followed contador..... maybe he is saving himself for later stages? Bradley Wiggins was awesome today, i hope he can keep it up.

a 60miler for me tomorrow, it'll be the furthest ive cycled in about a year; i certainly wont be going up as steeper hills or as fast as they boys in the tour so i hope its not going to hurt too much! Cancellara was pulling over 75km an hour going downhill today..... wow, id be scared to death!

get your mind out of the gutter old man  ;)

bradley wiggins finished with the other contenders and remains in 5th place overall - hes going great :) cav will have to relinquish the green jersey :(
sorry to be focussing on the brits :$

as for me, we took a slight wrong turn (i wasnt navigating) so the ride was only 55miles..... but i did go to triathlon training first thing in the morning

Alberto Contador is my tip to win, he's gonna take it in the mountains. Armstrong is just too old now.

really.... armstrong didnt chase contador because thats not what a teammate does.... he was doing the right thing.... contador was told not to break away and he did it anyway.... and he is still only 2 seconds ahead of lance..... lance could take the lead at anytime.... he just didnt want to burden the team with having to hold the yellow for a week on the flat stages when he can take it in the alps.... and make it easier on the team....

yesterdays stage to verbier was amazing, im so glad itv4 show the tour live at the weekends, ive gotten really into it this year... it really helps having some brits to follow..... they are WAY, WAY behind the standard contador is setting but contending with the best of the rest.
couple more mountain stages which will be just as interesting, tactical and will sort things out. It cant have been tactical that armstrong didnt go with bradley wiggins and the others that finished ahead of him, i think weve seen he is still a fantastic cyclist but not quite ready, which isnt surprising with 3 years off and then his injury hit come-back prior to the tour.
