OMG!
this was so simple when I found this out I almost wet myself at how freaking ridiculously simple it is!
So, you have some music files that a friend gives you that they downloaded from IScrewed (Itunes) or purchased at SprawlMart; you go to try to play or convert them with your handy-dandy converter and the thing screams at you saying you need a license... well screw that!
Step 1
Open Nero Burning ROM and select Make an Audio CD
Step 2
Drop the DRM protected files to Nero, making sure you are recording to the Image Recorder and then burn the image
Step 3
Open Daemon Tools (http://www.daemon-tools.cc/eng/home) and r-click on the system tray icon, select virtual CD/DVD rom, select the drive then mount image, navigate to the image file you created in Nero to load the image
Step 4
Open explorer, and navigate to the virtual drive Daemon tools adds to your list of available drives, select it to see the 1kb shortcuts to your songs
Step 5
Drag and Drop you CD Audio files to your favorite CD ripping software like DBPowerAmp (http://www.dbpoweramp.com/) and Rip!
the resulting MP3's are now stripped of that nasty DRM! and can be enjoyed in your favorite media player!
There are lots of software packages that promise file conversion that strips DRM but why bother when most of you already have both Nero and Daemon tools. Why, you could even use Windows Media player to rip the cd, now wouldn't that by ironic!
