With gbh gerrard and co i reckon they might even be out of the big 4 now city are making their 10 man attack formation:haha:

So get your humblepie out and lets go again bitches!!

Finally a realist among them! Hoping rather than betting every possession you own.

Still... +1 for another "we were unlucky in every competition" season.

shouldnt we now have a: "will manchester city" thread??

they are the new big spenders in the league and ought to break into the top 4, but will they????????????

Sir Brian

I see Villa beating one of Liverpool or Arsenal to 4th this season.

As your man said - Glen Johnson (at 17million :|) is your big summer signing for christ sake!

I also can't see Man City getting into the Champions League this year.

Na, there aren't any Man City fans that yearly proclaim the league is in the bag since they are the best team in England.

i think we will find in the last thread i did not believe we would win it last season, BUT after going so close last year, i do actually think we have a good chance this time around..

You all mock liverpools signing but..

Chelsea have signed one unproven young winger and daniel sturridge.. who has only done one impressive thing in his career so far, set up robinho.. the rest are all another year older, and you could see that last year

United have lost ronaldo and tevez, two match winning players, andf singed valencia, benzema and michael owen, a mid table player at best, a kid from france who himself said he probably was not good enough and somebody who lost it after he went to real madrid, and even helped his previous club go down last year.. giggs scholes etc another year older, and they were avarage last year compared to 3/4 years ago..

Arsenal, just sell... adebayor, and toure, and look to replace them with viera.... to plagiarize jacx.. nuff said !

Liverpool on the other hand, ended the season well, have sold no one of real importance yet (altho it looks like xabi is off) and still have money to spend, rafa just waiting for the market to die down, when real and man city have stopped blowing their money all over the place, same arguably as it seems fergie is doing, Johnson is an improvement on arbeloa, insua came through well last year at left back, benayoun has improved immensley in the last year, and in kuyt we have the second most effective right winger in the league from last season (ronaldo being first of course)

Yes xabi going will be a big blow, but gerrard can play that role better anyway, and benayoun proved last season he can cover the gerrard role, just as lucas showed great improvement at the end of the year in the middle, so with a reported 22million + huntleharr im not too worried by it..

So in short, of the top 4 teams i think liverpool have done the best this year in terms of keeping together / strengthening thier squad.. we will definatley be there about at the end of the season.. id even go so far as to say i expetc the league table to read 1. liv 2. Man utd 3. chelski 4. Man city

This of course will all change depending on the signings yet to be done! one more quality centre back and id even hazard to put city above chelsea, centre back and a good MC and i reckon theres an outside chance of finishing higher, depending on how they all gel

:haha:

You don't have a clue, Glenn Johnson is better than half the side backs in the premier league. We've made few but smart signings, we've replaced players we've lost.

Andy, don't be a douche....man you arn't as strong as they were last year and Liverpool are just as strong....go figure.

And Man city? lol There's only so many forwards you can play at once, lets see how happy they are sharing the bench....and lets hope their moral and playing standards don't drop because of it.

ps. Alonso's gone, whilst we've lost a talented player that doesn't weaken our midfield, we have players to fill his position. If anything I think we should use the money to buy another striker.

We've sold a couple of defenders aswell but we have youth defenders that have come into the squad and have done well plus johnson will be a very good replacement for Arbeloa, I think he will be better.

We are thinking of buying Aquilani to replace Alonso which would be a good buy. H ewould fit nicely into cntral midfield between Masch and Gerrad.

We played well today and our youth players are really showing their quality and mascherno his true quality.

You're the one being "typical" and "spewing" shite. Lets look at the facts...

Rangers reached the UEFA Cup final 2 seasons ago. Celtic a few seasons before that. On the way we beat English teams or better foreign teams that knocked out English teams. How can you say the OF would be in the 1st Division without it being complete drivel? Rangers and Celtic would be midtable sides in the EPL to begin with but with the added cash (you realize the team getting RELEGATED from the EPL gets more cash than the SPL WINNER?) the EPL brings we would easily turn the "big 4" into the "big 6". I'm not saying how long it would take to get to the stage of being able to challenge for the title because Liverpool/Arsenal aren't even at that stage! Rangers and Celtic pull 50k/60k EVERY league game. Playing in the EPL with higher ticket prices and better ties than "OF v Hamilton" we'd pull in way more fans of both home and away support.

tl;dr
OF moving to EPL - midtable sides
OF in EPL for 5 or so seasons - "big 4" turn to "big 6"
Saying OF should be in the same league as Milton Keynes Dons - fucking moron window licking cunt

No chance in the world would we finish top 5 within the first few seasons... but also there is no chance in the world we wouldn't eventually be top 5. :P

There is like no money in Scottish football yet we keep sending the OF into Europe and by and large we do do well. So it would be inevitable that with the massive funds boost of the EPL that we would be competitve in the league and also Europe if we qualified.

Ok and that was my argument, regardless of the who, what, where, when's and why's you wouldn't compete with the top clubs in the premier league...ok that's because you don't have the quality of players they have due to finances but isn't that the problem with all football teams? The English teams in the premiership with less cash and mostly English players are just as good and some are better than your top 2 teams.

With all due respect Steff, i think if Rangers and Celtic were to move into English Football, it would be only fair for you to enter the second teir.

While, yes i agree they've done well in European Football, i also believe your behind in terms of quality of all but the 5 worst teams in the Premiership. And thus i believe it would be justifiable to force you to gain promotion before you played in The Prem.

As for when it will happen, i can only see the Old Firm entering English Football when this 2 tiered Premier League occurs; with 20 teams in 2 Divisions.

Because i cannot see The Premier League voting to increase their league to 22 teams (just see how they moan of congestion at the mo.) And as for you taking the place of 2 "none-relegated" Prem sides i cannot see this happening. (If it remained 20 team league, and 5 were relegated in a 1 off season.)

As for you entering The Championship; while you (and i name shadow in a different breath) and the glory-hunting BSkyBRetardlettes such as Shadow, may belittle lesser Championship teams such as your Doncasters, Barnsleys etc... I cannot for 1 second see The English Football League voting to allow your 2 into the Championship in the place of 2 "small" English teams.

On a side point, take no notice of shadow. I went to school with a kid like him - a Leeds United fan whom had been to 1 game in his life and thus thought he had the right to belittle my team week in week out - despite the fact he had fuck all to do with the club he "supported".After a few years of this cunt, i twatted him and he ended up needing stitches ;) Needless to say he never said another word. :P

I know it wouldn't be fair on any side for us to just walk into the Premiership. I wouldn't mind starting a few divisions lower because I am confident we have the team to get promoted and the potential investors to stay in the EPL. IF celtics and rangers were in premier league yes i m sure they d be stronger...The problem is not only financially..Its about the quality of the premier league..Come on you could claim Celtics and rangers are the best team in the world if u are insane enough but u can never compare premier league with scottish league whatever u guys call it...
