I was just talking to some truckers out back and they said that they heard it was "Suicide by Truck" .. Right in front of his mom.

They dropped him when they moved his body, pretty nasty.

There are lots of rumours flying around, now the latest is that he was running around in traffic.
People had called in earlier about him running around in traffic.
Maybe he was drunk and depressed... I donno.

A 32-year-old man is dead after being struck by a transport truck in Burlington this morning.

Police say the truck was travelling south on Appleby Line near Corporate Dr. just after 9 a.m. when the fatal collision took place.

"A male and a female were standing on the west curb and for some unknown reason the male stepped off the curb into the path of the transport truck," said Sgt. Brian Carr.

The man, a Burlington resident, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Carr said it's not clear at this point how the man and woman knew each other.

He added that it's unlikely any charges will be laid against the driver of the transport, who remained at the scene.

BURLINGTON – Halton police say they do not anticipate laying charges in an incident where a 32-year-old pedestrian died after being hit by a tractor-trailer on Appleby Line.

Halton police say Lino Manuel Darosa of Oakville was pronounced dead at the scene, near Corporate Drive, following the collision at 9:20 this morning.

Detective Constable Kevin Ryan of the Collision Reconstruction Unit said Darosa stepped from the curb on the west side of the street.

“(He) appeared to quickly and deliberately step into the path of the truck, leaving the driver little time to react,” Ryan said.

Police said the Kerr Street resident was walking with a woman at the time who was not hurt. Police could not confirm the man’s relationship to the woman.

Ryan said the tractor-trailer unit was southbound on Appleby Line at the time of the collision. The truck driver was not injured.

Appleby Line was closed between Mainway and Upper Middle Road for about four-and-a-half hours.

Ryan said the truck was examined at the accident scene by members of the Halton Police Commercial Vehicle Unit. The investigation into the actions of Darosa prior to the collision are continuing.
