hjey my gf has just moved house and her CRT screen is shaking. it is just the picture and not the actually box the screen is in.

does that mean that she needs to get her dad to buy a new screen lol??

or is it just a setting that needs to be adjusted and has been change cause of the move??

any help would be good.

try checking the monitor cables are in firmly at both the monitors end and the pc's. If that fails try checking your refresh rate.

Shit this reminds me of a problem I had to deal with for my company.

It was a nightmare.

I had a whole office that had this problem. Many things can cause it. If all the above stuff has been checked to no avail then it's usually electrical inteferrence.

Check how many power cables you have running around the monitor, make sure there arent too many. Also check whats in the walls around the monitor, there may be an electircal distibution board for the house nearby, this would cause it, or some mains power cables running behind the wall or under the floor. Try the monitor in a different location to test this theory.

The problem I had with my office turned out to be.... get this... a Royal Naval Vessel going up and down the Manchester Shipping canal (the office was right next to the canal)
Turns out their radars and shit were inteferring!! We had to purchase a screen that went right the way accross the wall to block the inteferrence. Took me 3 months to figure out the problem!! :$

First rule of computer repairs - hit the fucker, see if it fixes the problem, if not try what they said.

LOL OK so we've covered 4 very good things..

1. Check the connections
2. Deguass the monitor...Its in the setting somewhere
3. Check the refresh rate
4. look for electrical interference..This can be major! I've had bigger monitors give out enough to screw up smaller monitors..

and honest to god..I have tried the 'Remo'method on a few monitors and had some good results..

lol. i have bashed a few computers that wouldnt work that have eitehr fixed them cause of it or they were turned to scrapmetal.

1) connections are fine as far as i know. i will check them again although i am sure they are in firmly as when i tightened them it went worse when it weas first installed.
2) done that a few times to no avail.
3) where do i find that lol. when i know i will check it.
4) ill take a look around it. at first i thought that it would be the interference from the sub/amp and tower that is also on tghe computer desk but underneath it all close to the floor. there is a 2.4GHz cordless phone next to teh computer though. would that be a problem with teh frequence waves?? there is a 4 port power board fopr the computer as there is a scanner/printer, monitor, tower and sub/amp all plugged in plus the modem. it is teh same as before the move yet the phone is closer now.

noone is shaking teh screen.

i can see the shaking aswell soo no it isnt cause she blinks too much although i wouldnt think that she blinks too much anyways.

i cant see the pic soo i wouldnt know if that is her or not although knowning SW it probly isnt.

fucking navy lol. fuck that problem. would baffle most people.

no it isnt a houseboat.

no it aint on a magnet.

I still have a good feeling about interference...hell worse case scenario, turn everything but the monitor and PC off and see if it persists. And yes the cordless phone could also do it.

my first thought was electrical interference but dont know what it could be from :S as everything is the same as before and i just unpluged the phone and that didnt help. the sub/amp is off aswell. ohwell gives her dad an excuse to buy a LCD flat screen lol.

The cable could also be faulty.

unless the cable was damaged in a 15min drive, packed in firmly and not moving at all plus covered in blankets to protect more. other then that im sure it should be fine. although could be the pain from moving it. i know alot of stuff fucks up after a move for some reason.

If I'm shaky I have a drink and it fixes it. I don't recommend adding beer to electronics, but I would have a few while trying to deal with the monitor. ;)
