A GIRL who went missing eight years ago has been found alive - and the perv who snatched her has committed suicide, it emerged today.

The man, named as Wolfgang Priklopil, a 44-year-old communications technician, reportedly kidnapped Natascha Kampusch as she walked to school aged ten in 1998.

She was kept in a cellar under a garage and reports claimed she was abused.

On Wednesday she managed to leap out of a black BMW that had stopped for a routine police check near Vienna, Austria.

Her captor fled before hurling himself in front of a night express train.

The woman, who is now 18 years old, went to a house near the one where she had been kept in Strasshof, a hamlet on the outskirts of the capital, and identified herself to a neighbour.

Police are now awaiting the results of a DNA test to prove that she is the girl who went missing eight years ago.

However, they said they were almost certain it was her, as Natascha's passport was found in her prison, and she had a scar identical to one borne by the missing girl.

Officers said she was in good physical health, although she looked pale and shaken when she was discovered.

that is a really sad story. he took one of the most important parts of her life from her. besides all the horror that i can only imagine he put her through. it does seem amazing that she didn't try to escape earlier.
there was a similair story her in California. a woman was kidnapped, tourtured, raped, and so on by a man and his wife. they kept her in a box underneath their bed. only let her out every once in awhile. i think she was kept by them for about 7 years before the wife finally went to her priest and confessed. at the time though, the kidnapped woman was living normally with the couple.

I saw this on the news tonight, but the story of her escape differs. On the TV it said that the kidnapper had forgot to lock the door and she escaped while he was on the phone.

It doesnt say that he was a paedo?? It says, reports claim that she was abused... she was abused, certainly mentally. There have been some reports that she was abused physically also but this has yet to be verified. Havent seen anything anywhere on any news outlet that sees the girl saying he was 'kind' to her...

i have worse stories but can't tell them due to HIPPA laws. and i respect the privacy of people who have been through ordeals like this. i can tell you about a 14 y/o girl who had been whored out by her mom and step dad since age 4 i think it was. she was kept in a closet and only let out for small bits of time. i sat with her all night (at my work) she slept with all the lights on and would wake up screaming every so often. nearly broke me to see anyone so fearful. on the outside she looked normal as any other girl her age. but i seriously doubt that she will ever be able to lead a normal life. the story was in the local paper but i can't really go into detail about it. there are some truly sick fuckers in this world.

I work for the state social service department, it's DYS , youth services.

Just tonight at work I witnessed an intervention of a girl who tried to kill herself... and why? Because she lives with so much pain, due to the fact that not only one, but several males in her family have repeatedly molested, raped and beat her throughout her entire life, which btw is only 13 years long so far. She's also seen nothing but violence and abuse of her mother and sisters.

We have a boy who's 14, and he was sexually abused by a counselor at his school for 2 years, then he went on to molest his little brother and sister.. this kid has so many issues now, I duno if he'll ever function properly.

.... I could type 10 pages of stories but why bother, they are the same ole stories, with the same defenseless victims.

There's SO MUCH abuse out there, so many kids who are emotionally and physically scarred for life by these sick twisted fucks that call themselves humans.

That's why I am so adamant about child molestors never stepping foot out of prison for the rest of their lives, because they do NOT change.

thats wrong aswell. there are too many people that do shit like that thesedays and it is just fucked. i agree that they should never be let out BUT i believe that they should be killed for their crimes.

VIENNA, Austria (Aug. 28) - An Austrian teenager who spent more than eight years in a dingy underground cell until her dramatic escape last week issued a statement Monday defending her captor as "part of my life" and insisting she didn't miss anything during her long ordeal.
In remarks read to reporters by a psychologist, 18-year-old Natascha Kampusch said she understood what a "strong impression" her case has made and how she is faring since she bolted to freedom last Wednesday, but she pleaded with journalists, "Please leave me alone for a while."

"Everyone wants to ask intimate questions, (but) they don't concern anyone," she said. "I feel good where I'm at now."

Police said Monday they had only begun to question Kampusch about her abduction at age 10 in March 1998 by Wolfgang Priklopil, who killed himself within hours of her escape by throwing himself in front of a commuter train.

Police Maj. Gen. Gerhard Lang of the Federal Criminal Investigations Bureau said investigators are continuing to follow up on "every lead" in the case, which until last week was one of Austria's greatest unsolved criminal mysteries.

Although authorities have released photographs and video footage of the cramped, windowless basement cell where Kampusch was kept, she referred to it simply as "my room" in her statement, read by criminal psychologist Max Friedrich.

"It's my room, and not destined for the public to see," Kampusch said.

She also denied ever calling Priklopil her master, even though she said the 44-year-old communications technician wanted her to.

"He was not my master. I was equally strong," her statement read. "I didn't cry after the escape."

"In principle, I don't have the feeling that I missed something," Kampusch said, but acknowledged that her youth was different to those of others. Still, she said, she was spared of some things - such as not starting to smoke and drink or having "false friends".

On a typical day, she would have breakfast with Priklopil, Kampusch said. The rest of the day would be spent doing various things around the house.

"Housework, reading, TV, talking, cooking. That was it, for years. Everything tied to the fear of being alone," she said.

She used an Austrian expression to indicate that at times Priklopil treated her very well, but at other times very badly.

"He carried out the kidnapping by himself. Everything was already prepared," she said. She added that they then decorated her "room" together.

"In my eyes his death would not have been necessary," she said.

"He was a part of my life, that's why I also mourn for him in a certain way."

"I am very much aware of what an impact the events of the past days must have made on you. I imagine how shocking and frightening the thought that something like this could even be possible must be. Furthermore, I am aware that you are somewhat curious about me and naturally want to know more details about the circumstances in which I lived.

"First of all I want to let you know that I don't want and will not answer any questions about personal or intimate details. I will act against those who overstep personal boundaries towards voyeurism. Whoever tries to do so will have to watch out. I have grown into a young woman interested in education and with human needs.

"My living space: My room was well enough furnished. It was my room and not meant to be shown in public.

"My daily life: This was very regulated. Most of the time we had breakfast together -- he didn't work most of the time -- household chores, reading, watching television, talking, cooking. That's what it was like for years. Everything connected with the fear of loneliness.

"The relationship: He was not my master. I was just as strong. But -- to give you a metaphor -- he carried me in his arms but also trampled me underfoot. But he took on the wrong one (person) -- and he and I both knew that. He carried out the kidnapping on his own, everything was already prepared.

"He furnished the room -- which was not just 1.60 meters high -- together with me. By the way, I did not cry after the escape. There was no reason for mourning.

"In my view his death was unnecessary. A penalty would not have been the end of the world. He was a part of my life and this is why I am, in a way, mourning him.

"Of course it is true my youth was different from many other people. But generally I don't have the feeling I missed anything. I spared myself many things, I did not start smoking or drinking and I did not hang out in bad company.

"Message to the media: The only thing the press should spare me are the permanent defamations of myself, the misinterpretation, the second-guessing and the lack of respect towards me.

"Currently I feel good where I am, perhaps a little bit patronized. But that's how I decided that I want to only stay in touch with my family over the phone. I will determine myself when I will contact journalists.

"About my escape: When I had to clean and vacuum the car in the garden, he went away because of the vacuuming noise. That was my opportunity, I simply left the vacuum cleaner running.

"By the way I never called him "master," even though he wanted it. I believe he quasi-wanted it but not really seriously.

"I have a lawyer I trust who is discussing legal issues with me. Youth attorney (Monika) Pinterits is my confidant, I can talk well with Dr. (Max) Friedrich and Dr. (Ernst) Berger. The team of (chief investigator Johann) Fruehstueck was very good to me. I say hello to them, but they indeed were a bit curious. That's their job, however.

"Intimate questions: Everybody wants to ask intimate questions that is not their business. Maybe I will tell a therapist or maybe I will tell somebody when I feel the need, but perhaps I will never tell. The intimacy belongs to me alone.

"...It was Wolfgang's own decision to throw himself under the train. I sympathize with Wolfgang's mother. I can feel with her and put myself in her position. I, and both of us, think of him.

"I want to thank all people who are so interested in my life. Please bear with me in the time to come. Dr Friedrich will explain it with this statement. Many people are taking care of me. Give me some time until I can tell the story myself.
