Thats a better and easier to implement idea... when I can't tell whats new, I just click off it.

Why not use a feature that is already in the code?

Such as:
A) Ticker of recent posts (as in the forum home page)
B) List of recent posts and posted by (as in the user home page)

Same purpose and (A) could be put on the news page and (B) on the cartel discussion pages problem solved.

Another good idea that I find works well is a picture trivia game only problem is only a handfull of people can figure it out and with a daily change it does keep people checkin' out the action as teh few who can answer do. (this idea courtesy of Gringo)

+1 good idea, sick of checking my list of junkies against the news page to make sure i havent missed any. If the new news was in bold or a different font :)
