Right, my internet security software licence is about to run out. I currently have Norton Internet Security 2005, but after reading the threads before the hacker, people don't really like Norton (I've had no problems).

So, I will be buying it, so what would be a really good Internet Security software package - one that has all the bells and whistles

I've been using Norton Anti virus for years and years. Only once had a problem (blaster virus) which was easily cleaned by Norton anyway.

I'd recommend it.

that's what I thought, but it either doesn't have a spam blocker or it doesn't protect your personal details (I can't remember)

OK are we talking Anti-Virus or Firewall? For Firewall I've heard some damn good things about Zone Alarm. As far as Anti-Virus Sophos is good as are others. I use AVG Free cause its free LOL but some poeple have reported some issues with it but its worked pretty well for me.

me personaly i use McAfee for home and don't really have many problems. I find Norton to system intensive personaly. But everyones different and its all about what you do on the net. If you banking and shit, looking for Lizzard p0rn or Thai ladyboys then you need something that is system intensive.

If your someone that needs more flexability then AVG is not bad.

As someone said, make sure you got a good firewall that you can play with ease.

I agree with Jacx..personally I like my Firewall on my hardware instead of on the PC to free up resources and they seem to be more easily configurable.

Zone Alarm was a cunt with me. It kept blocking MSN and Yahoo. I don't recommend it but I had heard good reviews so maybe you'd have luck with it.

Never had a problem with ZA myself, I can also recommend Kaspersky.

It looks like kaspersky 6 doesn't have any privacy protection. Features wise, it's a toss up between Norton and ZA. I've had no problems with my Norton, apart from it being slow, so it looks like I'll give ZA a go this time

well i recommend zone alaram because ive had no problemz what so ever and its easy to use friendly type and it dosnt slow your pc down also... it has great protection also :)

It doesn't slow YOUR computer down... if Ridge's PC is anything like mine it'll probably slow his down. :D:P

what do you recommend if somebody is like, hyper paranoid about viruses n shit? lol

atm i use Mcafee like jacx (firewall and antivirus) and it works somewhat well, but it has missed viruses before

tca, I had no problems with viruses using Norton, it's just that it uses a lot of memory to run. Zone Alarm looks to do the same stuff but doesn't use as much memory.

Trend Micro's PC-Cillin is probably the best you can get for a home pc.

I heard McAfee actually installs itself into the heart of the comp, meaning that it's solid to completely get rid of. Also AVG is free but it sucks compared to others, it lacks vital stuff, and does actually slow your comp down. I use Norton and that works great, updates itself automatically, and learns by itself.
I'd go for Norton any day.

*scratches head* you must be using a Norton thats different than the rest of us! I have NEVER seen a PC take more of a performance hit than when its got Norton running on it. I use AVG and I don't even see a twitch.

i would have to agree with u i use this program on both my computer very lite update like 3 times daily it seems like and has multiple scans internet...files...and one more i forget..nod32 workds great for me
