why the fuck do people believe in god. its such an irrational thing to believe. and to think that people are prepared to die and kill over myths, of which there is no evidence, is ridiculous. tell someone that frozen yogurt can make you fly, and hed need evidence before believin. but tell the same person that the book he keeps by his bedside is written by an invisible deity who will use his body to stoke the flames of hell, for all of eternity, if he doesnt believe its every word regarding the universe, and suddenly he doesnt need any evidence at all. i think its time that all tru;ly rational people need to do what they already know they need to do: put an end to religion.

Actually many of the historical events in the Bible have been proven. They have found ancient tablets of King David of Israels victories, thaey have found proof of the Babalonian exile, heck, they even proved the plagues to be true a few years ago, when a similar chain of events happened in Africa. As to the Miracles being true... well that I have no proof of, but I believe in them, heck I even have Rosary Beads made from some mountain in Bosnia where the Virgin Mary appears, and when you pray with them, you can actually feel them get warm... Oh, and last weekend I went to TCBY, and let me tell you, if you get the vanilla chocolate swirl, it does not make you fly,it gives you super strength.

I think AIW would have been a more appropriate place for this. Who are you to say we should ban religion? That's almost as dumb as me saying we need to get rid of all homosexuals or blacks. We need to do away with culture too. We all need to be the same, robots. There should be no freedom to choose anything. Faith in anything should not be allowed.

Believing in God is not irrational. In fact I believe that believing in some civilization or deity more complex than us is more rational than people who say ghosts don't exist and aliens don't exist.

Believing in RELIGION as a whole and religion sects is what is irrational.

Don't try to shut out beliefs that have to deal with God/greater powers. Shut out organized religion maybe....but really who can stop that? For religion to dissolve it would take one of two things.... 1) Humanity becomes so lost and/or corrupt that the majority no longer has the willpower to believe in anything. 2) Man becomes so advanced in the far or near future that we travel through the galaxy at will and we find/begin to settle on other habitable planets.

Of course theres always the possibility that religion comes true; that God makes himself known and the world goes through the tribulation, but that is not what I believe.

i am an atheist, but i belive that religion inforces order, and without religion, i f everyone knew there was no gods, and that rules are pointless, then i would be dead. so i say GO CHRISTIANITY, because it probably keeps me alive, even though i dont believe in god. judging by ur sig, I think your basing ur thoughts on a small group that has twisted the words of the Qu'ran. A true muslim would tell you they are twisting the words to make themselves seem right.

just becuz things in the bible happened doesnt mean its all true... it could be a fictional book that some guy just put real happenings into it, which makes it easy for simple minded people to believe...

But you can always have things that are unexplained :P
