Snapshot there are some games I don't play - Express, TI, BfSA, FM, NR and Pro - but in the ones I do play I haven't actually seen you do anything other than join in the last few weeks, apart from one single game of CTC. Why do you join if you're not going to play? You join CTC, then just sit there. Admittedly you build, which is an improvement over a lot of people. You join Korean, build, and then are never seen again. Ditto ACW. Ditto WW2. You're a good player, but if you're not going to play, don't join.
Sorry that I'm singling you out, but I've having my periodical build up of anger about people doing this :@

I know. Look, he's a (very) good player. I guess it just bugs me when someone who just donates in at least half the games they join is celebrating their high VPs.

im sorry u dont like that....and im not attacking u....but i do watch the games...i like to donate because i know that the games need donaters...i do stay and watch all of the games that im in, most of the time to make sure that nothing goes wrong....i build in every game i have ever joined and believe me....i am watching pretty much all the game....and even if by chance i leave or am not here....i always move to the capital or the most strategic defensive position before i leave.
i understand how angry you are at people who join and dont play......but please dont mistake what i do with what they do....VP whoring is stupid....i work for my vps even though u might not think so.

Honestly, I've lost count of the times recently I've seen you in Korean making no effort to protect your barracks. Similarly for ACW, and its not always when we're in a comfortable position like we usually are on North Korea. And I haven't seen you do anything in the CTC games we've been in the last few weeks....not like back in the day :P
Thats my perspective. Its possible that you are getting online frequently and checking up and that I'm just not seeing it, and if you are then fair enough.
As to whether the games need donators...to a point yes. But in WW2 for example, I'd much rather have someone with tanks/mobiles or jets after cycle 250 or so than I would have 1150 AAs. I was in a WW2 game yesterday where at cycle 260 (I think) we had 12 players on Axis, 6 of whom were donators. If even a couple of them had been inactive tankers rather than donators we would not have been nearly as easy to kill once we got busted by those multis/new players a couple of hours later.
