In my ideal DopeWars world I would be able to download the end of round results as an xls or csv file or similar.
Alternatively, posting the results as a table, or text that can be easily converted to a table, would be just as helpful.
This would be handy for being able to ..
-Sort by cartel to see how many players a particular cartel had and who played for them.
-Sort by player to see what cartels a player has played for in other or previous rounds.
-etc
PS> Please don't respond to this thread unless you have something constructive to say (ie. TCA STFU) Thankyou

If you copy and special paste into Excel it works the same but holds it in Excel. But I like your idea too, but there are alternatives.

Potentially it could Steff, but in the current format it is all one column
A slight change of format would solve this.

Ummm Tca, I'm sure I told you to STFU

I think this would be a great idea. CSV file wouldn't take up too much space either. Maybe you could make a .CSV dump to a read-only FTP site after the round end..Would make it very easy to create something somewhere for an all games database..

Look at me look at me. :Banane14:
Tca if you don't know what STFU means you could do a Google search on it.
1. Open your favorite internet browser
2. Type in google.com and hit enter
3. In the top middle of the page you will see a white box. Type STFU in it.
4. Hit the Enter key on your keyboard or click on the Google Search button
5. Read some of the results. (Get a grownup to explain some of the bigger words or more difficult concepts if necessary)
6. Repeat, but this time in the white box type in '.csv'. Then you might have some idea as to what is going on and can possibly contribute something of value to the discussion.
I hope this has been helpful. (f)
Topic at hand:
If storage is an issue I will be happy to donate some web space for it. If time is an issue I would be happy to donate that too. It doesn't seem to me that it would take much of either.

Run along and play now you lil scamp, the grownups are talking.

lol i flame people who have stupid ideas, if you've been around for as long as you say you have, why just suggest this now? you've had plenty of time to suggest it
@ chronic, get some new material, your bored little "tca is nothing" routine has lost what little effect it had

Even if the ideas are dumb, you don't need to flame them. You can say they're not good ideas without actually having to resort to flaming.
Besides, this is a good idea and I don't think that it would take that much in the way of extra effort on Rit's part.

Actually it does matter. It increases from a 0% chance of it getting done to something like a 2-3% chance. :P

It really is a good idea..I'm not sure of what Rits database backend looks like but I can't see it taking any longer than actually posting the results in the forum..

er .csv? that is what exactly
Comma Separated Value
Its a standardised format which can be recognised by most spreadsheets, and many other programs...allows to easily import/export data between programs while keeping it formatted.
The idea makes sense, but I'd never use it myself.

I have. It's not often that you have to come across it. Typically if you were having to save data from one spreadsheet type and open it with a different program but couldn't do it directly, you can save it in this format because that format is more accepted by spreadsheet programs.

I think it is a great idea. Would be of interest and help to get to know who the players are and where they play. Also maybe a easy way to find out how they do in there games, as I am still trying to keep track of all you and and how you do. Also so is just full of hotair and really does not know what they are doing.

FYI on .csv files
The only time your average person sees a csv file (unless they work with databases) is when they export and import an email address book.
If you want to look at a csv file in action you might want to try doing that. If you tried to open that file, your computer will usually choose excel for the job, and display it as a spreadsheet. If you right clicked on it and choose notepad as the program to open it instead you would see why it is called a csv
csv is short for Comma Separated Values
The end of round results would appear in a csv (opened with notepad) something like this..
1,,Radical Truth,,$200,000,001,,Beyond Control,,
Then if you opened that file with excel it would display as four columns of data, without the commas. The commas tell excel where to put the next column. If you then selected and copied those columns, then past them into the forum it displays like this familure format...
