this is mainly a question for anti-duck, but feel free to chip in anyone:
I downloaded IAM and started installing it. The Installshield wizard popped up, and said please wait while SMBIOS driver loads, but now nothing has happened for 20 minutes, except that there's a process called IKernel using up every bit of free CPU time.
I re-downloaded and tried again, same thing.
Any ideas?
I'm using a P4 and XP Pro.

It might be that your system isn't supported for that version. Intel in their infinite wisdom has a bunch of different monitoring utilities depending on the chipset you have. Try uninstalling IAM and using Intel Desktop Utilities (http://www.intel.com/design/motherbd/software/idu/) instead.

Yea I had spotted that but I wanted to see if you had any ideas first...
Anyway, I tried both versions of Desktop Boards with no joy. As soon as the SMBIOS driver started loading it generated an error, although this time it didn't hang. It told me I needed to run it on an Intel board :(
Meh, no biggie, I'll have a look for an alternative.
Thanks anyway mr. duck.
Edit: http://www.almico.com/speedfan.php <- This lad is much much smaller than the Intel programs, and seems to be working pretty well so far.
