:angry2:
Ok, I originally planned to buy a PS3 when it came out, mainly because I'm reluctant to buy any Microsoft system because of the frequent crashes I experienced with my 3 original Xbox systems (Yes, I am the idiot that kept buying new systems even though I knew they would break eventually). However, I decided on getting a 360 because the price difference doesnt justify buying a PS3 at the moment.
So....I bought a 360. 4 days ago. A few hours ago I'm playing some Tiger Woods and....surprise.... it froze on me, then I got the "Red Ring of Death", now my 360 is just a pretty little box sitting on a TV stand, nothing more than a large paperweight. I called support and they tell me if I send them my FOUR DAY OLD SYSTEM, they will replace it with a fucking REFURBISHED model within two weeks!
I just wanna send a big FUCK YOU to Microsoft, (Yes, I am aware that Mr. Gates will probably not read this post) and advise everyone to stay the fuck away from the Xbox, save yourself the grief and drop the extra dough on the PS3. THE 360 WILL MALFUNCTION IF YOU GET ONE, THEY ALL DO!

JFC..4 days and it died?? I have to ask but do you have it in any type of enclosure that might be keeping the heat from dissapating? I know they get pretty warm and I can't imagine you having that kind of luck.

Thats what I did when my kids pulled the PS2 off the entertainment center.
and btw coming from a computer peripheral company..Reman products are actually better than new.. They are actually built by hand as opposed to an assembly line. I loved my remanned Iomega Jaz 2 drives.

them fuckers do run HOT! i swap my brother everynow and then so i can play his halo, and it'll freeze up or dump me back to main menu at least once per night. it's frustrating, especially when you in middle of online war.

You got to take care of your investment,
u cant just let it heat up and keep it on carpet or enclosed for hours
its a next gen system, they are all touchy... but ull be soon realized when u get confortable with it, you made the right console decision
i have had mine since it came out, turns out i been just getting problems now, its the power brick that keeps f*ing up systems
might want to check that first

how can u say the ps3 will convert u back smokie? You've only seen one, i'm sure they are going to have problems too. In my experiance i hated the ps2, I went through 3 of them and probably 4 of the original playstation. I still have a 5 year old xbox that works with no problems. My 360 hasn't had any major problems since i got it in June. Did u leave the system on for 4 whole days gank?

Xbox 360 - 4 days old... return it to the store that it was bought at...
my xbox 360 runs for 8 hours straight and stays cool and runs great.... My PS3, burnt out in 6 days, i just packed it back in the box and took it back to the store... and said fuck it. Nintendo Wii, runs cool, works great.
dont be so surprized on the new systems being kinda risky.... and Microsoft doesnt run warrenties (sp) except for the 90 day.

Yeah, it's called an intercooler, and I bought one when I bought the system, not only that, I also bought a "fan stand" fo it to sit on. So, I have four extra fans on it while I'm playing, and I also have it and the power source in a very open area, not onthe carpet. I was VERY aware of the heat issues when I bought it, that's to be expected, but this wasn't a overheating issue. Support told me it's a "general hardware failure". From what I can find on the net, it porbably has something to do with a type of adhesive they use o some of the chips in the system.
Anyway, I realized yesterday that I have a friend who is a manager at the stoe I bought it from, Target. Originally they told me I couldnt exchange it because it's been opened. My friend ended up doing it for me though. :)
Hopefully, the new one isn't a bum system!

My lads Xbox froze twice on the first day he played it. Since then no problems. Though he rarely plays for more than an hour at a time. I may have to put it through an 8 hour session to see how it fairs. If it fecks up it's going back to HMV period.

LOL they wouldn't exchange it because it was open?? wtf? Usually they won't let you get your money back if it was opened and then thats only w/o a reciept.. I don't know any company that has that kinda fucked up return policy.

I just had to send my 360 in after having it for almost a year. This is common for the X-box360. Just call X-box and they will send you a box to send the 360 back to them in. They'll replace the motherboard and send it back to you.
As far as refurbished, it is better than anything off of a line because it is tested a lot more than something brand new. I know this after selling electronics for almost 2 years. I would usually suggest my customers buy refurbished and it comes with the same warranty.
Don't let this one thing make your sour about Microsoft. Shit happenes to all electronics.
i agree with refurbished being usually better than new. but the x-box is a piece of shit for the money regardless. the system sucks, their online servers suck, xbox LIVE(paying) is bogus aswell. i ain't seen an xbox go without problems for more than a year whereas i've had my ps2 problem free since it came out. i'll eventually go to ps3, but not while they're so expensive...and not until ps2 quits making kick-ass games.
the x box does have beter graphics when they work...but, that is all i can really find good to say about them, and.....OH YEAH, H A L O ! ! !

I'm sure PS3 will be better if it even works for you..
“A small number of older High Definition television sets found in the United States only have 1080i inputs for HD signals. Those televisions will currently only play some PS3 titles at 480p resolution. PS3 games render images at either 720p or 1080p for High Definition, and you need 720p input on the TV to play select games that do not support 1080p. This is an issue on the side of the individual television sets, which do not accept 720p input, so when a game outputs an HD signal only at 720p, these select TVs have to display the game at 480p instead.”
Yay for HD you can't even use ^_^
i didn't even consider the resolution factor.....which means i'll probably never go to ps3 because i'm gonna be using analog tv's for as long as possible.

i have heard this, and wonder what the landfills are gonna look like when every family in america throws away their 3 tv sets each!
but, oh well, my fam don't watch much tv anyway. we mainly use the thing to play games and watch dvds. i'd be grateful to have a reason to shut the thing off forever!
