Original and/or covers.
I have an awsome copy of Pearl Jam doing Black live that makes the hairs on my neck stand up. My all time favorite tune is Nirvana doing Where did you sleep last night from Unplugged in New York. I am not a big Staind fan but I heard a wicked acoustic cover of Sober by Tool. The first acoustic that I remember was Hey Hey by Eric Clapton. Nutshell from Alice and Chains Unplugged stands out as well. There are many great acoustic albums, What are some of your favorite songs?

Yeah, the Sober cover by staind was good. My favorite is Linkin Park's acoustic version of "One Step Closer" but, I lost it and can't find it anymore.

It is a toss up between Nirvana's cover of Where Did You Sleep Last Night and Tracy Chapman's Talkin' Bout a Revoultion

Do you have the tamborine(sp?) to go with the sing-along? That song is so not the same to sing along with without the badass instrumental with the tamborine to slap against your knee.
Anything from Nirvana Unplugged or Alice In Chains Unplugged is damn near impossible to beat as far as recorded shit goes[no NW bias I swear;)], but even being a far from big rap fan I can remember seeing LL Cool J do his version of Mama Said Knock You Out completely unplugged on MTV and being jaw-dropped at how good he made that song sounded when normally it would be completely drowned in synthesized bullshit.
And of course you can't beat Eric Clapton going almsot anything unplugged or my possible all time fav, Skynard, Free Bird accoustical.

tamborines are for yuppies, we use spoons and mouth-harps down here! nothing like watching young pretty short shorts bouncing to these beats!
i'd veg out on some nirvana anyday tho.

See you got it all wrong, you're thinking of a tamborine as being some rich guys instrument that was bought at a store when really the average joe can make one at home with very little, honestly I saw it on HGTV just last night......... I was impressed

Yeah I guess "frugal yuppy" is damn near an oxymoron. But as far as the flower print shirts go..... I was thinking real plaid bought at 2nd hand stores like the grunge phase was meant to symbolize and not the fake shit I bought into when I was a dumb kid and spent $40 on a flannel......... Grungy flannel works really well for cotton-eyed joe too...... well at least how I picture it anyways

LOL
i was under the influence of many coronas last night when i said cotton-eyed joe. now, while suffering 1st hang-over in quite some time, a little 'peaceful easy feeling' by the eagles seems to be the right medicine!

Classical music can be kinda cool actually ;)
But if we talk of modern artists I'll go with Angels Fall First by Nightwish.

I'd say that fits and you are so right... there are some really classical guitar peices which are largely acoustic. I'm assuming you mean Like Beethoven, Mozart, bach (? not classical but someone could have done a cheapened guitar version). And actually now that i think of it... wicked (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AjJvcdODvQ4&mode=related&search=)

I am going to check it out. Did you tell me about Nightwish before? I am sure that is how I ended up with Phantom of the Opera.

lol, yeah, it could've been me. I am spreading the Nightwish gospel to whoever is willing to listen. Their electric stuff are great too btw, but you have to get into the genre a little first
also check out "Swanheart". It starts acoustic, but has an amazing guitar solo kicking in at the very end
