Ben Roethlisberger broke his jaw, fractured facial bones, suffered lacerations to the front and back of his head and sprained both his knees in a motorcycle accident this morning.

According to eye witnesses, the car turned in front of Ben. It was not his fault.

The discussion is , he did not have a helmet on.

Personally, I ride a bike, so I am against mandatory helmet laws! It should be the riders choice (optional). I hate a helmet and always take it off in a state where it doesn’t apply.

What do you think about the helmet laws? For them or against them?

Would like to hear what you think.

i think helmets should be a choice. I dont think the government has a right to protect us against our will. dont get me started on stuff like this! if you want to wrap your head around a tree it should be your choice. where i live we have seat belt laws but i dont think we have helmet laws, both are crap! No one can sit on a bike and say they dont know what will happen if they wreck. its gonna hurt, you might be minus several layers of skin possibly to the bone, and if you arent wearing a helmet, you may not care...ever.

fight the man!!

I agree. The government should do absolutly nothing to protect the public or keep any kind of order. We should be able to kill ourselves off any way we like. Murder should be legal too, since we're promoting death. I mean after all, death is in right now. (I hear it's the new black) *end sarcasm*

the government should do everything in its power to protect its citizens from anything and anyone, except ones self. victimless crime should not be a crime. if the only person you hurt in your day to day business is yourself then everyone should butt out and leave you alone.

Just incase someone really wants to protest, this is a state level power, not national. I personally don't care about the law because I'll probably not ride a motorcycle.

Ben on the other hand should not ride in one as he is the premier player of a defending Super Bowl franchise. It's like (on a smaller scale) Ronaldinho going out and riding a motorcycle. Just stupid, one bump in the road could kill you.

I do lots of miles on motorbikes each year and would never ride without a helmet and also leathers (or draggin jeans) , gloves and boots.

I have seen the damage that even a slow speed off can do in grinding off skin, muscle and bone, its really gory and painfull.

i believe if you have no friends, family or anyone else in the whole world who gives a shit about you then sure thing, dont wear a helmet, in all other cases id expect ppl to be wearing a helmet not for their own sake but for those who love them.
