I appeal to my techier companions in the Oddthought community. This weekend my girlfriend's ex, or one of his friends hacked and changed her AIM password. While not the end of the world, it's mad anoying. Anyone know how we can find what IP this was done from, or any other more creative responses/solutions. Open to suggestions :)

Get a secure password for next time and move on. ;)

Yep, I'd say learn from it and move on. You haven't a hope of finding out what IP it was done from.

actually he has commited a crime, contact the site/whatevers owners and get your girlfriend to tell them her IM acc has been hacked along with the username, they should find out who it is and get him in some trouble !

What's the point? It's not like anything will really happen.

So is missing a police officers head with a bottle by inches (the policewoman said I did, I never seen it as I was aiming for the car in the yard) yet I got a letter saying "there is substantial evidence for conviction but nothing will be done this time"... so I'm going out on a limb and say not much will be done over a changed password.

I had my Yahoo account hacked once too..Never did figure out how they got it..the only saving grace is the email you signed up under.. Although in the long run what is the benefit from hacking somebodies IM password? Besides having some fun at their expense..

If it was a generic password you could potentially have someone else assume your identity and pin internet crimes on you that you never did.

Ohhhhhh you mean from that site thing. A forum I was on must have been hacked and they got my old old old password and my sign up email address. My password had been well changed since then. :P (e.g. it was my forum password, not my email password. ;))
