The recognition threads used to be posted in AIW, why cant they be posted in AIW first then moved over to here once they are done with? I have a couple of reasons for this:
1. More people will notice them, hence more posts. Alot of people dont bother with this section.
2. If they were in AIW then bad comments could be said, but in here they just get deleted straight away. Yeah, it might be the players thread, but if they are getting recognised for their achievements then they should be recognised for being a twat too?

I agree. Unless I actually see the 'X - Recognition Thread' I won't bother coming to find it. The good should come with the bad too. Not everyone feels everyone else is deserving so they should be allowed to express it.

Or, and just a thought here, we could be mature about the whole idea and just choose not to post in the thread of the person being recognised when we feel they dont deserve one. Then we could let the number of posts (or lack thereof) speak for how deserving the player really was. I know, it's a wild idea, forgive me.
But hell, seeing as its inevitbale that no matter who gets a thread someone is gonna piss and moan about it, why not. I mean there's no need for the mods to be constantly pruning a recognition thread because some people cant be dignified about the idea that someone they didnt think was worthy got one.
Honestly, i don't really care, if you want to try it out just slide my thread on over to AIW and I can laugh myself to sleep at night at all the "who the fuck is kurtz" comments that come out. After all, the reason no one knows who i am is cause i wanted it that way.

And you are? ;)
Dopewars is only fun with the drama. Where recognition is due, people will get the congratulations. Otherwise people should be allowed to express why the said person is a cunt and shouldn't have got a thread. It'd keep recognition threads active a bit longer and actually provide something you'd want to read back on. :P The only recognition thread I've read back on is Tim's when I wanted to find the price of a drug without doing the work myself lol

the intent of a Rec thread is not to flame...if you want to do that, then make your own section in AIW

So thats it? Vixen says no and nobody else gets a say? This forum and game is going downhill - too many rules nowadays

buzzin' I understand where you are coming from, I truly do but there are some who might be very offended that they finally got their thread and were torn a new one....I know I would. I have to think of the feelings of all recipients, not just the ones who say here they don't mind. And BTW as long as I have been doing these I don't recall then being in AIW but I could be mistaken....

If you think back vix there wasnt a recognition thread section, they just got slapped in AIW then after a while unstickied and they dissapeared into the depths of the forum. Even if its just to get the thread more noticed i still think it would be better there

I'll have to talk to the rest of the staff but I think if we have a special section for them, then why put them elsewhere.....do you think if we had the ticker at the top back with the most recent threads it might help?

why not just make new forum for it, instead of having a sub section from End Of Round Scores for Dopewars and Player Profiles! and having it in there which isnt to noticable, just make a new section for it :)

i think it should be up to the recognee to shamelessly broadcast his own thread in the shoutbox lol

Its only a tiny little link at the bottom of the scores section, these threads are well deserved and it should be alot easier to find this little section. How many new players do you see posting in these threads? Maybe they dont notice this part and just think the whole section is to do with End of round scores

I don't read the forum in detail but i still find things by clicking 'new posts'....the recognition threads are easy enough to find if you want to see them. Although i rather miss the 'ticker' if that is what it was called? :$
I didn't think the purpose of the recognition threads was for telling that person of your negative feelings ...make that point about them in AIW if you feel the need and let the recognition be a space for niceness, good humour and congratulations of achievements. :)
Just my opinion :$ (f)

Not true, the last at least 6 threads, I have had to ask for poll questions because I don't know the nominees!

It would be correct to state that I have nothing to do with the recognition threads. They are none of my beeswax and I don't care to interfere with what is Gretchen's job.
Kurtz' scores could be compared to the ones you show off in your signature with one exception: he pulls them off constantly in A whereas you list your personal bests in B. You might say this doesn't qualify him for a recognition thread, but he has also won the last all star game which you obviously weren't aware of, as you didn't play it. He is one hell of a worther/gunner and I really don't see the need to defend him. However, from your point of view, all this is rather insignificant, isn't it? The fact that he played for TLB is reason enough to make those quality posts that, without a doubt, indicate you have done your homework properly.
If I've taken your post wrong and you meant to say that the players who got a recognition thread - Kurtz in particular - deserved it from a neutral point of view, excuse me for wasting your time.
Back to the initial post, how hard can it possibly be to create a separate thread in the AIW section that refers to the recognition thread? Gretchen has pointed out clearly what her purpose of a recognition thread is.
