the forum upgrade was alledgedly going to take a fews days. i realize that some problems came up. however, the games and the forum seem to be equally ignored at the moment. several threads have been started with concerns about cheating and so on. but the threads are being ignored also. if you guys need help, ASK us!!!
Dymond is a computer whiz! maybe he would be willing to help
several people seem to be on the forum all day long. give them jobs if they are willing.
but don't just ignore us! some people really put a lot of time and effort into this (Jacx) but without support.....:S
what do we -forum members, and game players- need to do to help out?

I honestly don't think some of you realize the amount of work that goes into redoing a forum.. There's alot of coding, and testing that has to happen along the way.

Rit goes to school full time and works full time as well.. Steve works alot of hours.. Ridge and Tim and most of the admins have families and full time jobs.

They aren't neglecting things deliberatly to make you guys wait.. it's a process that takes time, effort, money for purchases that have to be made, etc...

It's not like admin can hand out little jobs to each of you.. although the thought is nice and appreciated ... however it just doesn't work that way. Maybe dymond can help with some aspect.. it's a possibility that he can discuss with admin. However most ppl won't be able to help because it takes certain access that only a few of them are allowed to have.

They realize you guys are waiting for things, just like you wanted the shoutbox and arcade back , even in its simplest form.. to tide you over while the forum is being finished, and they gave it to you. Most forums don't work so hard for it's members like these guys do, ya know, try to have patience.. and look at how much they have given us so far :)

Do you realize the forum is being redone even as we speak? It wont' be a gradual transition.. when it's done, it will be one click and boom it'll be here...So please be patient and allow these guys to work on it as they have the time, maybe without the sarcasm if possible?

The past few days John (Jacx) has been out of commission because he had a death in his immediate family and he's been dealing with the fact he can't go back home for it at the moment. It's been tough on him and he had to take a few days away from the forum work. That's also why I'm trying to answer to this thread, so I don't have to bother him with it at the moment.

again no offense intended here. but if these people are to busy to do the job they have taken on... hand it over to someone who has the time and know how. people are leaving the game quickly. by the time people get the time to do their jobs, there will be nothing left to do.

I have to say that it can be quite a task to feed 17.34 children and 3.1415 wives.

Wait a second Beli... first you' talk of the forum update, now you are talking about people leaving the game.. which is it? because the forum update has nothing to do with the game.

And "these people" .. precisely Rit.. happens to be the owner.. and he has ran this place for over 5 years doing exactly what he does now.. school/work... etc.. and it's grown continuously... why now does there seem to be this issue and protesting etc?

thing i have to say is that we are lucky to have such a good forum...try any other game and see if they have a forum as good as ours.granted yes it has taken longer then expected but atleast we still have it. i was oen to say kill sb and arcade till they can finish it..out of the kindness of there hearts they put it back.. i think most peoiple shold just chillax(jacx speakage) . and when it gets done it gets done..most of the poeple bitching dont even think bout how it was on the old forum with only posting and a jacx says box...you guys have games--yes not what they where, a shotbox--against alot of peoples better judgement, and alot more options,,there is very few people that actually know how to do this work(i do and have offered serveices, but i do have a checkered past) .. there is few people they can trust plus even fewer that have the skills to do it...lets just be happy we have what we have and eventually when they have time it will get done

i highlighted where i said both forum and game. i am mainly concerned about the game. although the forum does have a lot to do with the games.
maybe i am the only one that sees a problem.
but in today's society it is all about instant gratification. and i think that people will move on quickly if things stay as is. <my opinion only. don't ask me to quote anyone.

Tung, I totally appreciate that post.. it's spot on.

Beli.. you're an outspoken individual.. I appreciate that you have passion for things.. however.. no offense intended, but they have advanced the games and this forum for several years, and will continue to do so, even at the pace they are forced to work.

Btw..I don't think dopewars is an "instant gratification" game ... with only 2 tokens every 20 mins lol

And before anyone brings it up.. the multi scans are being done.. IF that's what all of this is about. ;)

Im gonna take my dog out to play in the snow now, bbiab

Rit - like Resa said is very busy with exams and work. Jacx told him he wanted to improve the forum, and Rit ponied up a tidy sum of money to make it happen.

Jacx - works his fingers to the bone trying to make this a better place for everyone, despite being a newlywed to a very demanding wife...

Pstyle - works full time, is a forum admin, and a game admin. He's also not very well at the present time, and many of the game administrative duties can only be carried out from his computer.

Kloaked Spirit - is in the process of changing his identity to escape from "you know who". Ok, maybe that's not quite true, but he is going through a transitional phase irl, and isn't in a position to devote all of his free time to the forum, but he'll be back... he always comes back :(

Tim - does more to help with the day-to-day running of the forum and the game than most of you realise, despite having a very demanding schedule.

Ridgeback - is very, very old, is uncertain as to the identity of the current Prime Minister, and has no control over his toilet habits, but you would be amazed by the lengths he goes to to keep this place free from porno spam bots. He does some useful stuff as well.

Phuquit - is currently doing a crash course in PhP and MySQL in order to become a more useful member of the admin team. In addition, I've also offered my services to assist with DopeWars administration if it is at all feasible. I'm way out of my depth, but I'm willing to go the extra mile for this community.

The bottom line is - there is a small group of people who give up a lot of their free time to keep the forum and the game running, but unfortunately, the work we do is sometimes only noticed when it doesn't get done by yesterday.

LOL - that's funny - I know this sounds unbelievable, but I nailed Margaret Thatcher a few years ago. It was when Dennis was in hospital for heart surgery and me and some mates were in a bar in Belgravia just after a Tory Party Conference and Baroness Thatcher had come along to do a meet and greet with a band of the Young Conservatives. I met her in the function room and complimented her on her handling of the Falklands War in the eighties - anyways, turns out the old girl likes a drop of the Cristal and 3 bottles later, we're all over each other. Within 40 minutes we're in a diplomatic car and back to her place. Don't wanna go too much further out of respect, but let's just say I had no problem getting a "riding" on her "caucus" that night ;)....

Firstly I offer my condolences to Jacx and his family for their loss.

Everyone here appreciates all the hard work all the staff put into this game. However, game staff are not the only ones who put lots of work into this game; a great many ordinary relatively unknown players do too.

Beli is right to raise this issue because a lot of players, particularly those of us who don't use the forum much are dismayed by the state of the games at the moment, particularly B games.

Every room is full of multis and slaves, therefore all results are questionable at best. So yeh, Beli is probably right, people are likely to leave the game or at least take a break from it, some will come back some won't.

BUT - the real issue is with the honest players who are trying to compete with a bunch of cheats. Surely some measures to prevent this or at least reduce it could be taken while the other forum is completed, although personally I'd rather have the game than the forum. Measures such as locking off the medal rooms after day 4 surely aren't so onerous that it would prevent completion of the new forum.

Thanks for all your hard work but can we have cleanish medal rooms or at least locked off medal rooms?

I know what gits they are over at the State Dept, as they denied my passport saying they don't have enogh info... I hope your other situation gets sorted soon so you can get over to your family. Second I'd like to thank Phuqit (or Prosthetic Head or whatever else he may be calling himself these days) for taking the time to sort my account, even though I have been quasi retired... the efforts that the admin team puts forth in ensuring a quality forum is much appreciated.
