No PS3's sold out, europe is playstationville still, the kids here still think its cool to own one but its definatley flopped faster than ridge without viagra, terrible that playstation included such an expensive peice of kit as blu-ray yet its future is undetermined, if HDDVD goes mainstream your paying £250 for apeice of equipment you will barely use,

Altho after sonys last two consoles people will eb forgiven for waiting 5 months to buy one, thats when it will have a decent game catalogue, all its bugs fixed and by then, if the last two playstations are anything to go on the third verion will be released

not to mention the price will be down approx £150 and you will get an extra controller and free games bundled in

yes the point is sony's technology Blu ray is going head to head with HD-DVD, they are essentially the same format but backed by different companies.



And actually TCA, the playstation 3 is the lowest selling console ever released, even the gamebody advance outsold it in the most recent US sales figures, its flopped worse than jade goodies career (english joke)

The x-box even with its distribution problems sold more consoles in the first three months than the PS3, x-boxes are easily found now but are still less common than the PS3's collecting dust in american shops,

However by far the best selling console so far is the wii, sold more consoles in the first 3 months than the ps3 and x-box360 combined and +50% and is still sold out almost everywhere.

so if anything jesse they are both getting crushed by the true gaming giant

On a side note the last week ive been informing my brother of the PS3s problems (hes a big sony fanboy) and hes been squealing about how im lieing, so ive had a hilarious morning of watching my brother who sold his PS2, trying to play some of his old games on the PS3, final fantasy 10 looked crap, and it was the only one out of the 10 PS2 games he tried that actually played.. i almost died with laughter.. especially when fifa 07 and Pro evo did not work, he got them for christmas rofl

Mayber, but the reason the PS3 is soo huge is that it has a PS1 and a PS2 built in, apparently a firmware fix can solve this, but i dont see how, what happens is they games get re rendered by the GFX card to fit the PS3's output, but it then dosent smooth the lines, so you get blocky crap, looks kinda like half decent N64 games,

Furthermore is the PS3 cable does not work on analog TVs, which means you need a PS2 GFX cable to play it.. which really hampers the graphics.

The sony PR machine said 80% backwards compatability.. As of yet ive seen one game out of 20 work, it looked like shit and has crashed three times in 2 hours (FF10) the funny thing is they slated microsofts backwards compatability, but at least the enwer x-box games work, and the 360 improves games graphically, the only console with true backwards compatability is the wii.. backwards compatability with all consoles they ever made, and a whole lot of segas too

And on a side not, PS3 has no ports for a PS2 controller or memory card.. if u wanna play playstation 2 games on there you are starting from scratch..


And kiz is right, the PS screwed the dreamcast which was an awesome peice of kit, but anybody into consoles back then will see whats happening, With the release of the playstation, sony bought a lot of segas exclusives, exclusives are what you buy a console for multi port games dont really come into it, so naturally fans of those games went for the playstation, as a result after some failed hardware (lets face it the megadrive was thier only big hitter) sony retired from hardware game.. Now all the playstation exclusives are jumping ship, Devil may cry has gone to x-box, GTA is no longer exclusive, final fantasy is leaving (and square-enix are very friendly with nintendo, looks like FF may be coming home) and now metal gear is looking at abandoning a sinking ship too (a nintendo original too altho will probably move to 360) Dynasty warriors made a transition to x-box almost 6 months ago

my brother has hade his PS3 for 20 hours.. and hes playing on my old gamecube its hilarious..

and yet for all of the bullshit about the ps3 (and yes sparky, i agree with you, right now it is a piece of shit) there is now a new, innovative groundbreaking use for the ps3...cure cancer!

There is an program underway at stanford and other major schools in the us. by downloading a simple software, you can "loan" the computing power of your ps3 to the schools for digital genome mapping, ect..anyone care to guess what the computing power of 500,000 ps3's is? :)

as for that "cure cancer" shit pstyle, thats been around for about 5 years now by my knowledge, i had it on my PC 4 years ago before i built my new one and havent downloaded it again since.. its even more bullshit on the PS3 tho, on the PC people regulate it to 1% processor power, no option for that on the PS3, its a marketitng niche i know, but it dosent outweight losing GTA exclusive, devil may cry exclusive, FInal fantasy 13 being suspiciously made on a multi platform engine and MGS about to jump ship.. (in fact square enix, FF makers dont want to code for Sony anymore, as you can see with the psp flop)

All the game companies looking to make games "fun" like they should be, code for the wii right now, everyone going for raw graphics power, go for the 360, the graphics are better, because x-box has a powerful dedicated gfx system and sony have an off the shelf out of date graphics card... and all companies looking to multiplatform thier games, code for the wii or the 360, because you cant multiplatform a game made for the ps3, instead it gets made for the others and multi platformed to be read as a PS2.5 game.
