rated as what? a tv star Hack? Because thats all he is, he was beat in the show and they let him come back on and won it. He should have never been allowed to come back, hell the show should have never comeback with its fucking edited matches. Thats why i like The Ultimate Fighter show better, it's unedited bouts to see who goes home. You see how the fight really was not what a editor can do to make someone look good.

What made me laugh was Manfredo saying that he'd rather have died than have the referee stop the fight - not that it could be called a fight, I always thought it need 2 people throwing punches to be called a fight.

The man's obviously an idiot as well as not being a boxer!

Taylor offered £3million

Date posted: 09/04/2007 17:35:27

Following Joe Calzaghes systematic and clinical destruction of Peter Manfredo Saturday night Frank Warren announced that he had made Jermain Taylor an offer of £3,000,000 to box Joe Calzaghe.

Calzaghe v Taylor would be a super-fight of monolithic magnitude drawing substantial interest around the world. The winner of this fight would certainly earn a place in the history books and deserve the recognition of the best pound for pound fighter in the world.

Speaking to Joe Calzaghe about his performance Saturday night against Peter Manfredo he stated, “I had a strategy and it clearly worked. I wanted to probe Manfredo for his speed, power and tactics and that I did for the first two rounds. In the latter part of the second round my confidence grew and I could see Manfredo beginning to fold under the pressure of my constant jabbing and fast combinations. In the third round I declared war and annihilated Manfredo with my speed, power and systematically taken him apart like a clock. Manfredo was overwhelmed he could not handle my speed nor the accuracy of my punches and for this reason the referee taken the humane action of stopping the fight”.

During the post fight press conference Manfredo stated that Jeff Lacy received similar punishment but the fight was allowed to continue, that stopping him was an injustice and that the referee should be fined. However, Manfredo had clearly failed to see the difference, that Jeff Lacy fought back for every round and that a reality TV star’s aspirations of turning a fight around in Rocky Balboa style was a fiction far from reality.

Calzaghe stated, “If Manfredo fought back and offered any kind of resistance then I would agree that the fight was prematurely stopped but he didn’t, Manfredo was a human punch bag. On the one hand I am very disappointed the fight was stopped since I would have liked to have knocked Manfredo out. I have trained very hard for the past 8 weeks and was thoroughly enjoying myself in there. However, I am always mindful of the devastation a punch can cause and for that reason Manfredo himself should be pleased that he was not subjected to further punishment”.
