Its the Grand National on Saturday, anyone placing a bet?? everyone has a view and here are some 'expert' ones that might help you out!

Clare Balding BBC TV presenter
1 Liberthine 2 Numbersixvalverde 3 Point Barrow4 Bothar Na
The rumours were that mare Liberthine was in foal (pregnant) and her hormones would be raging (in a positive way), but late on Thursday it was revealed that she actually isn't. Despite this I still fancy her as jockey Sam Waley-Cohen has a great record over the National fences, even if he has never ridden in the big race itself before, and his mount has proved she likes jumping them.

Ian Bartlett BBC commentator
1 Joes Edge 2 Royal Auclair 3 Monkerhostin 4 Bothar Na
This year, we will need horses who have shown form on good or faster ground. Joes Edge, already a Scottish National winner, is peaking just at the right time with a Cheltenham win last time out.

Victor Chandler Bookmaker
1 Monkerhostin 2 Silver Birch 3 L'Ami 4 Royal Auclair
The National isn't the lottery it used to be. You need a horse with a touch of class, like Monkerhostin. The marathon trip is a slight worry but the good weather should mean his stamina isn't tested too much.

Honest Frank BBC Sport website
1 Longshanks 2 Jack High 3 Liberthine 4 Dun Doire Trainer
Kim Bailey has been trying for three years to get Longshanks in the National. He's in now, and has a good man on board in Tony Dobbin. Jack High and Liberthine should go well.

Luke Harvey BBC Five Live reporter
1 Idle Talk 2 Hedgehunter 3 L'Ami 4 Royal Auclair
There's a bit of class about Idle Talk, who's normally a safe jumper and one of the few that will go on the fast ground.

Cornelius Lysaght BBC Five Live correspondent
1 Eurotrek 2 Numbersixvalverde 3 Hedgehunter 4 Simon
With a smooth win (conceding weight) over several National rivals, in the Becher Chase, Eurotek has form to rival anyone. Champion trainer Paul Nicholls' run of bad luck and near-misses in the race must end soon.

David Williams Bookmaker, Ladbrokes
1 Numbersixvalverde 2 Billyvoddan 3 Simon 4 Slim Pickings
Last year's winner Numbersixvalverde has been well treated by the handicapper, won with plenty in hand a year ago and can account for a weaker field.

I work as a bookie, the national is pot luck my friends, almost all of the horses fall as you will know, and with the fences being almost a foot higher than the jockeys are used to having just come out of the winter jumping season, none are really fanciable, generally best to just back a name..

Numbersixvalverde won last year but my money is on iron giant this year. 150/1 rock on!
