There are 2 (I know it's not really but we're just keeping it simple for hoos) cups played between European teams. The UEFA cup and the Champions League. CL is better than the UEFA Cup and it's to decide the best team of Europe basically. Unfortunately teams occasionally fluke there way through. E.g. Liverpool

If you won your league fair enough... but you never... and never will. It's the CHAMPIONS League... not the '3rd in your domestic league' Cup. It demeans the whole thing. Liverpool slack of during the season and concentrate on the CL... balls. The champions of the domestic league should be the ONLY team to go in. Then Liverpool might start getting as good as Chelsea and Man Utd.

The fact that it'd be too short is your arguement for the Champions League becoming just that: the CHAMPIONS league. A resolution for this could be a rename of it I suppose but as it stands, only domestic Champions should be able to compete IMO (and the people who positive repped me in agreeance).

If Man Utd or Chelsea decided to lay off the league a bit and finish 4th I'm sure they'd romp home in the Champions League. Unlike Liverpool though, they both want to win everything.

Which takes us back to various managers moaning that the season is too long! It's too long because European competition has lost it's meaning. Finish fourth in your league, have a qualifying spot for the champions league!

It's nothing more than a way for the 'big' clubs to get richer and keep the 'smaller' clubs in their place.

Mate, I've said 9,223,372,036,854,776,001 times now, if I were a glory hunter, why would I have stopped supporting Man Utd? They were my favourite team right up until they won the CL... then they caught arsehole-itis like Liverpool a few years ago. When I started supporting Chelsea they never had a billionaire crackpot chairing them.
