Oh yeah just got back from the twins game, GREAT GAME!!

Santana gets the win, Nathan gets the save, and Tori Hunter continues his hitting streak to 20 games. Also no HR for Ortiz, All in all it was a great game to be at. I was even sitting next to a Red Sox fan so we were having fun all night.

So it all comes down to the third game with the series tied 1-1. Too bad I will be working while it's on.

Johan is godly. Probably the best pitcher in the game right now. I don't think anyone would be favored against the Twins on a night he's pitching no matter who the opposing pitcher is or the lineup he's facing. I don't think you can be a true baseball fan and not enjoying watching that man work his magic. Other than him and Randy Johnson I can't having been able to watch an overpowering lefthander in my lifetime. I just hope we get to watch him pitch for as long as Randy has.

You think he is better than Beckett who is 6-0 right now?

Poor Tavares, his first good game he pitched and he had no run support.....I actually felt bad for him

watched it on our new HDTV Plasma :-) Not as good as being there but I'll take it!

Just because you are 6-0 doesn't mean you are good. You could win a game giving up 8 runs. That said, I haven't seen Beckett all year (I try to avoid the Sox-Yanks because half the time I could really care less :P). By numbers he is the best, but I'll take John Smoltz everyday of the week. Go Braves.

Santana best record in last 2-3 years and 40's in run support yeah I would say Santana is better.

Just because Beckett is having a good season *and all the rest of boston* does not mean he is the best,

he is doing better then beckett in almost every stat in the last 3 years.

Now dont get me wrong I would LOVE to have Beckett on the twins but Sanata is better just he always starts out slow and goes on big winning streaks after the ALL STAR

Anybody in baseball would take Santana over Beckett...... but not because Beckett is a slouch. There is good and there is great. Beckett is very good right now but has yet to ever put together a complete season let alone back to back seasons and multiple Cy Young awards like Santana has.

Both pitchers have roughly the same amount of starts in their career but Santana has logged 300 more innings for his teams, 400 more k's, and 20 more wins and has done so with far less talent surrounding him. Of course Santana would trade his 2 Cy Youngs for Becketts World Series ring and MVP trophy but that wasn't for the Sox and Beckett, until this year, hasn't been that good since then.

Theo Epstein would make the trade for Santana with Beckett and throw in another very good player and be very happy with himself. Beckett may have a few more wins this season (when its too earlier to matter) but the only other thing he has on Santana is he's one year younger.

Johan is the man ;)

Santana and his black magic are second to none. The only times I've seen him get hit around is when teams jump on his first pitch... quite dangerous though to go into a game telling your team to swing away at first pitches. If Liriano wasn't hurt this year I'd put MN as one of the few contenders for the title. As it stands, if the Bosox don't win it this year it'll be a disappointment... imo

Eyez, I don't know that calling the Marlins a better team since 2000 is correct. They were not that good, but again I've never been a Twins (or AL) fan to watch it closely enough. I do think Santana is the better pitcher of the two, but would love to see Beckett start 10-0. I'm all for watching history happen in our time :).

I didn't call the Marlins a better team and I wouldn't. In fact other than to point out that Beckett won his ring for them (without saying actually saying Marlins) and not the Sox I didn't mention the Marlins at all. Basically I said that Beckett has had far superior talent around him since he's been pitching, compared to Santana. I didn't make mention of teams at all because he had more talent in Florida and now in Boston.

And I'm all for history too. Thats why I can't wait to see Bonds break Aaron's record. The record will go from someone that never hit 50 home runs in a season to someone thats only hit 50+ in a season once. Thats quite an accomplishment seeing how these days we think of 50+ home run seasons as walks in the park and everyone sees Bonds as a product of steriods. But the man only hit 50+ once, sure it was a record 73, but to me his numbers aren't what I look at when I think steriods. I think of Sammy Sosa and all the other terrible hitters that went from .250 and 15 hr's to .300+ and 30 or more hr's. I don't care how many biased press stories tell me different

Still wouldn't say the Marlins had that much talent, but it doesn't matter.

Now that Bonds stat is quite interesting. That is a very good argument for why he is not on steriods. Another is if you just watch him hit. He's so freakin' locked in on the ball it is quite amazing. He probably has some of , if not, the best Hand-Eye coordination in the Majors.

Yeah the guy has a lock on the ball like few I've ever seen. Hell there's a reason why John Smoltz and Greg Maddux have completely dominated in their careers. Both will likely be HOF'ers or at least Maddux is guaranteed.... but Bonds has hit more career homers off those 2 than any other pitcher he's faced. While they were making the game look embarassingly easy against everyone in the 90's Bonds was making it look easy against them.
