Due to my previous post a small portion of the forum took the term "White trash" to be offencive due to race. My orginal view of it was it was a bit of fun and not in anyway offencive or even a race issue.
So the poll is this, Is the term "White Trash" or " Nigga" and please note when i say nigga i mean it as nigga and not nigger!
Also please realise this is a serious but also lighthearted thread, its not a debate about wrongs and rights or race or history, its a simple snapshot view of the world!

I think it all matters on the situation you use them.
such as using white trash in a general term is not too offensive but calling someone to their face is more offensive.

Actually I think it would be the exact opposite. Calling me "white trash" personlly wouldn't be nearly as offensive as grouping me into a genralized class. Just as calling someone a "nigga" wouldn't be as bad as saying "All niggas look the same, and stink too."

umm I think you missed what I meant by general
Americans have a lot of white trash. as in you not saying who the white trash are but stating that there is white trash.
as grouping you is the same as calling you white trash

Oh, I see what you are saying. I guess it would depend alot on the exact context. Different people "hear" thing differently.

The point is that they have different meanings and are volatile.
wehter you call it a lifestyle or a racial term.. its still offensive.
So when you use them you stand the chance of upsetting someone. This is why jock had to delete "nigga" out of every post in the thread of that one guy. He was "just using it cuz thas how he talk in the streets" and wasn't a rascist.
But he used the term very carelessly and it looked pretty ugly now didnt it?
But its not about anything until you put meaning behind it.
Which is what you've done. And while I don't think that you meant to be offensive nor do I think you are a bad person, i think that Shawn was right, even if he's a hypocrite.
p.s. diogee i think thats its still offensive if somone is talking shit in general about people of my country.

First off, you can't even spell my name and have no basis to use it. Second, how am I a hypocrite?

I was thinking that I shouldn't BUt jock told me your name and he spelled it that way. I figured since I knew it.. might as well use it.
You are a hypocrite for telling someone to uphold the rules in a racial thread that was obviously not meant to offend anyone while in another thread blatantly dismissing someones point based on the their cultural background.
The difference is in the intentions (yours being to offend his being the opposite) but to me its the same thing. So I guess I should say even though you appear to have been hypocritical on this point becuase I'm sure you are not that way often or even all the time.

hmm I think Squid is bored and he failed to wind Jacx up so now he's working on winding you up YAK, because he knows where he was hypocritcal lol
He called John a racist (which he knew full well John wasn't being one) while at the same time he was being racist in another thread talking against Canadians (while he was full well meaning to be racist) which = hypocrisy :P
Now let's answer the poll questions and stop fussing shall we :nods:

Depends on peoples views and how you use it really.
I say to vinay, whats up my nigga, does he take offence? no, but thats prolly cos he is indian :hidey:
As for white trash, i don't think thats in anyway rascist, no more rascist then calling jacx a british twat :P well yankish brit twat? i don't know, but see the point?
All in all, it depends on how you use it really.

So that's the example? Interesting. That still doesn't show hypocracy:
1. I never said Jacx was wrong for saying it or that it was against my beliefs. I simply asked a question, proved it was racist, and requested that the forum rules be upheld.
2. Canadians still are not a race, rather a nation.

If other races use the term nigga then that's how they roll. In my limited experience using nigga meant you played that way, did as they did... watched ur own back... in my mind it's a lifestyle if ur ghetto.
