is utter fucking rubbish, yes rep doesn't mean anything, blah blah blah, we've all established that, but this new system is just horseshit, i rep someone, i rep about 14 people then i still can't rep that first person back

n whats this shit about not being able to rep a certain post, this system is bullshit :glare:

Lol first tca says he wants rep to be spread faster, then a few posts later hes saying he wants it gone, the whining little girl we normally call TCA just has a complex, He needs to be top of the rep list, its that simple.. he needs to have most reps so the noobs flock to him looking for more.. so ill just say it

Who gives a shit about rep?? Who gives a fuck about having the most?? Who even cares its there,

I think tca is pretty much the only answer for all of the above, so just scrap it jacx, its just a shitty popularity thing anyways, i know that, you know that and tca is moaning he cant rep his friends fast enough, scrap it, then let them whine

Its pathetic, it was added to give an indication of who is a good person for noobs to look upto and who they could trust, now its just who has the most friends, and if noobs were to use it in the proper manner, they would be learning from the man who has Spam king in his sig... either way it fails

Edit: and for the record TCA your sig is wrong you never have and never will be a spamming legend, all you do is talk waaay too much and have an opinoin on things that totally dont matter, relate or even concern you, there has only been two people on this forum who could have ever called themselves spam kings or spamming "Legends" (Like its summat to boast about..) And thats DFL dev and his 10 egocentric teen multis, or dave with his delightful rendition of badger badger badger

I have to say though one time when we were in the old forums and you could rep as much as you wanted.

Back when I was stalking tim....erm reading everything he wrote that is...(is that stalking?) I was bored and spent a day neg repping him just to see what he would do.

And this was at the innocent beggining of my adoration so what does that tell you?

btw he got it back up in like an hour.

Also when some person neg repped me to hell he brought me back up.

Aint I a stinker??

The point is that its not about here or there. It's whats going on in between and I think the messages were a great addition to rep.

Some people take it to seriously though and yea its a bummer if someone calls you names but a lot of people will give you good rep too with great comments.

Someone said I am an asshole from one of the thread and we were talking about donating blood. I said that I'm scared of it and that I'm an asshole. Someone agreed and signed ck.. not sure if it was holly or who it was (speaking of holly where the hell are you?) but either way it was deserved. I need to get over that fear becuase it's not just me I'm hurting this time.

And then on top of that I got good reps that say I was funny or that I made someone happy. So its a mixed bag and a cool thing if someone is shy or doesnt want to say it in the thread.. you could just pm it though but this way is easier.

---------------------------------

on the subject of Jesse he and Muzza I believe actually did like this 24 hour thing and spammed until they were banned. So thats what he;s talking about. Not sure if dAVe did the badger thing before that but I don't think it was to the extent of Jesse and Muzza's spam explosion. I think?? Can't totally remember but yea.. I remember it getting so crazy becuase I usually post a lot but he was in like EVERYTHING with smilies and whatever... it was insane.

Hell I just like giving something other than a nice comment to someone..I mean what could be better than a little green box with the comment to show your appreciation for the post...and sometimes even if the post was something I dont at all agree on..I still green rep for the point that they actually spoke their mind and tried to explain their opinion to me...who cares about popularity..We all know who the popular people are around here..and it aint hard for a n00b to figure that out..You dont need to look at the rep points for that

If I remember right from when I was staff, they had just changed the rep peramiters due to some abuse of the rep system by some.

Those who "don't care" about it anymore.. just ignore it, rather than complain because it doesn't work the way you want it to now. And those who like to use it for the comments you get/give, carry on. Point being, why worry about it or over analyze, either way, especially if it is irrelevant to you now. "just my opinion here" :dunno: (It might save you a headache or something) :cheeky:

Ok Ice I'll try to help you with your question...

From what I remember, the last update to the rep system kinda goes like this. You have to rep so many ppl before giving the same person rep again (I believe it it's 10) , don't quote me though. And you can't go back and rep posts older than 5 days I think. You can't give anymore than 25 points at a time, no matter how much rep you have. And I think you're only allowed so many reps per 24 hour period (not sure how many though)

I personally like rep cuz I like to make comments on a person's post.. but as far as the green bar indicator, does it really matter how high it is? It doesn't actually determine "popularity" , not in a true sense, because popularity has many different definitions, depending on the observer's evaluation of what's classified as popular, ya know. I thought the whole "popular" thing ended when we graduated high school. :hehe:

I also enjoy the rep and the silly little comments. But if the rep meters were made private so nobody could see who has the most or least, it might prevent some of the ego-stroking that so many people complain about, and still let us silly forum members have our silly rep comments. :)

This is correct. We knew that people were just giving each other rep over and over for really no reason other than to create a huge circle-jerk of "rep elite" forum members. Then if they disliked someone, they could just give one negative rep and counteract the 20-30 positive reps that other people have given a person.

Since Jacx said he was going to edit them again, here are the settings I see on the rep system.

- You must have 75 rep and 25 posts for your rep to start counting.

- Maximum rep able to be given by anyone is 25, regardless of reputation power.

- 3 reps can be given per day.

- 10 user spread before you can give reputation to the same person again.

- I didn't see anything in regard to the number of days a post can be that could be edited.

- You gain one power for every 7 days that you've registered, 10 posts that you've made, and 50 points of rep.

Yes, we have reset everyone's reputation whilst making sure to leave the comments. We decided to give you the opportunity to spread as much reputation as you want, to whomever you want, whenever you want.
However, we have made one significant alteration in order to stop what we refer to as 'circle jerking'. If one reps someone, all of one's previous reputation comments for that person will be reset. In other words, the receiver will keep the comments but they won't contribute to their total score any longer - only the most recent reputation of each giver on the respective receiver is being taken into account.

if u rep some one and are able to give 25 rep points and a few weeks down the line ur able to give out 40...they get the 40 and the 25 is taken away, plus they have the rep from other people.
