So last weekend, we went to my brother's for the weekend...we took our dog muttley with us. We got home and discovered he had got fleas up there from their yard. :grr:
We bathed him 2 days in a row in hartz flea shampoo.. but he still scratched.
So I found these remedies online and they finally worked!
Bathed him in Dawn dish soap, then followed that with a rinse of Vinegar and water. Dried him and he hasn't scratched since.
Also.. you can treat your carpet with table salt.. just shake it on, leave it for 2 days, then vaccuum. I did it, even tho we didnt have any fleas on the carpet that we know of.
Also.. i took our bedding and washed it all, just in case too.
So far so good (Y)

ya u prob. did not have then in you carpet yet.hartz is the worst crap ever mad..i don't work.....the best I have found is Natures Miracle...and it smells nice.
Just check him for dry skin from the Vinegar.Oatmeal will help if ends up getting dry skin.
sometimes u can tell if they have flees is look at there belly and seeing black flee droping on the dog.If it is bad enough they might have thin hair in some parts...mostly in the back end.

Yea.. I was kinda worried that the vinegar might dry his skin, but so far he seems great. He's all fluffy and shiny now and acts as if he feels alot better now. I think he was annoyed by itching so much lol But he only had them for like 3 days.
Grr@Fleas :grr:

I use Frontline on my dog once every 3 months, generally the fleas come in on the cats so I have to keep him treated or he gets eaten alive! They can be hard to get rid of if you don't keep on top of it, especially during the summer months. Once they start laying eggs around the house it's tricky to break their life cycle, you think you got rid of them and then all the babies hatch and you're back to square one!

My cats had flee's 1ce before from the dogs downstairs and I went out and bought the hartz shampoo and also the special spray for them, collars, and spray for the upholstry and carpets..It cost me close to $130 and a little over 2 weeks to get rid of them.. This time they had it I used the salt on the carpets and couch they always lay on and it worked awsome..better than the spray I paid like $14 dollars a can for :argh:

My mom swears that putting "Moth Balls" in the vacuum cleaner bag kills fleas' eggs. I cannot tolerate the smell myself. Have also heard about putting "20 Mule Team Boraxo" in your carpet for a day as a remedy for fleas and their eggs.
